The position

As Project Director you will keep oversight and execute commercial tech transfer projects to contract manufactures (CMO’s) within a strategic business area e.g. obesity. You will also provide direction to the cross organizational project team in collaboration with the CMO’s.

Some of your key responsibilities include:

  • Defining, planning, and executing project strategy for a critical business area.
  • Acting as Project Manager for selected critical CMO projects in the strategic business area.
  • Establishing effective governance structure and effectively manage the projects stakeholders e.g.
    • Communicating to senior management and governance fora’s
    • Ensuring critical stakeholders are informed and/or involved
    • Securing necessary resources when required for project delivery

  • Ensuring projects are innovative in the execution to guarantee faster and better quality in project deliverables.
  • Making sure project solutions and methods are shared across project teams.

We believe collaboration and communication are critical to successful project delivery, so we base our project execution on a Half Double and Agile approach. Projects you will typically lead will be technical transfer of a drug substance; a side chain or a drug product focusing on the preparation and execution of the Process Performance Qualification (PPQ); and/or establishment of robust processes for commercial production and supply chain. Often projects are new products which transfer from other business areas such as Research & Development/Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC).

The project team will typically consist of specialists within Quality Assurance (QA), Supply Chain, CMC, Manufacturing Development, Regulatory and Strategic Sourcing.

We have operations across US, Europe, Asia, and Chinas therefore there will be a requirement to undertake some travel when executing business critical projects or working with external stakeholders.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, we expect you to:

  • Hold a Master’s degree within Pharmacy, Biology, Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, Business Management or any other related field.
  • Have at least 10 years of experience within Project Manager leading complex manufacturing projects within a large organization, at international level.
  • Bring extensive knowledge of quality standards and regulatory requirements (GMP) within pharmaceutical products, medical devices and tech transfer functions combined with deep insights into production processes.
  • Have strong leadership skills and you have the ability to engage people, build trust in your relationships, and to get commitment from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.

It would be considered as an advantage if you have already great insight in the Novo Nordisk organisation.

As a person, you can easily establish close collaboration with stakeholders, both internally and externally, to create a highly engaged team and effective governance on the projects. You will be assertive and driven in order to set direction and drive results. However you will also have the courage and integrity to take the tough right decisions. Using your analytical mindset you’ll be able to set the scene, inspire, and provide clear expectations to ensure success. Acting with a sense of urgency you will be proactive and constantly challenging others to deliver higher levels of performance.

About the department

Global Contract Manufacturing (GCM) is a unit in Novo Nordisk Product Supply organisation and responsible for Novo Nordisk’s commercial operation of global manufacturing of drug substance and drug products at Contract manufactures. Our main office is located in Bagsværd, Denmark where approximately 130 people are based. The primary role of GCM is to establish, monitor, support and control the commercial production handled by Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMOs). We operate in many countries, e.g. USA, Belgium, Italy and China.

You will join the department GCM Projects, which is responsible for both controlling the project portfolio and executing the projects in the portfolio.
