We are looking for a student who is motivated by and enjoys analyzing data, problem conceptualization, developing models, and solving these for process improvements/optimization. As a Student Assistant, you will play a part in shaping the future of our manufacturing facility, in close collaboration with similar teams in research and manufacturing in Novo Nordisk. Your responsibilities are included, but not limited to: Gaining advanced process understanding of a given unit operation by studying the phenomena and developing a mechanistic model Quantifying the current state performance and defining the operating space Formulating and solving optimization problems to determine the optimum operating conditions in order to improve performance Since the nature of the job is student-based, you will also have the opportunity to develop and learn how to apply R&D-based concepts to real-world applications using the knowledge that you have and will gain from an academic degree. Furthermore, you will gain experience in working in a global company, and manufacturing environment, and how data can be utilized with the current trend of Industry 4.0. You are a student who is currently studying within the field of Chemical Engineering at a Danish university with the focus area of studies: Mathematical modeling and simulation, Optimisation, and/or data analysis. Ideally, you are about to start or are already in an MSc program with at least 2 semesters left. You will be a part of the Novo Nordisk Insulin production, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (PS API) and assigned to Insulin Manufacturing 1 (IM1), the world’s largest Insulin Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) manufacturing facility located in Kalundborg with fermentation, recovery, purification, and utility production under the same roof. You will participate in IM1 Bioprocess Improvement-Optimization (IM1BIO), a group of 8 highly skilled colleagues plus MSc students all working with advanced mathematical modelling for bioprocess improvement and optimisation. We follow the multiscale modelling approach for problem-solving and we have activities in Applied Mathematical Modelling, Mechanistic Modelling, Process Control Modelling, Capacity Modelling, and Supply Chain Optimization Modelling. Your part will mainly focus on the Mechanistic modelling scale for process systems.
