Are you excited about hunting the new science that may enable tomorrow’s breakthrough medicines? Are you passionate about building bridges between the global scientific community and the R&D organisation of Novo Nordisk? Then you may be the new Associate Director we are looking for! The position The Associate Director will be working closely with the Vice President and other members of the Innovation Outreach team. Your responsibilities include scouting for opportunities, offering scientific support, and managing a diverse portfolio of outreach programs. The programs aim to connect Novo Nordisk with the early external innovation community, through partnerships and research collaborations. These programs range from grant schemes for funding of research projects in the academic community to financial support and mentorship for life science start-ups, within Novo Nordisk’s areas of interest. Therefore, continuous improvement of these programs as well as design of new outreach initiatives will also be part of the role. Creating visibility and awareness of Novo Nordisk as an attractive collaboration partner in the early innovation community is a key enabler of success and defining and driving the communication strategy of Innovation Outreach is accordingly also a critical part of the role.The main responsibilities of the Associate Director will be:Scientific scouting and opportunity review: Identify high-impact scientific opportunities through application reviews and scientific discussions w. external applicants and Novo Nordisk scientists Participate in outreach campaigns, partnering conferences and meetings Operations and Project Management of Outreach Initiatives: Organise and execute calls for applications for outreach programs Coordinate application review and selection process for outreach programs Day-to-day contact with external collaboration partners Driver of internal & external Innovation Outreach communication: Develop and implement the communication strategy for Innovation Outreach Develop visual and written communication material for outreach campaigns, to promote external awareness of Novo Nordisk’s strategic interest areas Promote internal visibility and knowledge of Innovation Outreach activities, within the broader Novo Nordisk organisation You can look forward to a dynamic working environment offering a broad range of varied work assignments. Qualifications We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic, proactive, and scientifically passionate colleague who can add to the team, both professionally and personally. Moreover, we are looking for a candidate with an optimistic, versatile, change-ready, and flexible mindset , with a natural affinity for order and timeliness. The ideal candidate will have: A PhD degree in natural/health sciences 5+ years of professional experience in the life science industry (e.g., pharma or biotech) A solid understanding of fundamental drug discovery and development processes Experience with innovation management, project management and/or business development is considered an advantage, but not a requirement Proficiency in both spoken and written English About the department Innovation Outreach is a young and growing team, charged with engaging and enabling early external innovation within Novo Nordisk’s main therapeutic and technology focus areas. Our ambition is to build relations and partnerships with the brightest scientific minds and innovators from academia and biotech, with a key focus on Europe and Asia. By allowing high-impact science and ideas from academia and biotech to be complemented by the drug discovery and development expertise of Novo Nordisk, we aim to join forces with the global innovation community to create tomorrow’s breakthrough medicines, to substantially improve the lives of people living with chronic disease.
