If you love working with start-ups, tech innovation and thrive being at the forefront of the future of transport and logistics, then this may be the right opportunity for you to leverage your solid business foundation and network to help mature startups engage with Maersk by joining our brand-new venture client initiative: Explore by Maersk Growth. We are building our global Explore team and currently need Program Leads for our Copenhagen, Bangalore and Jersey City chapters.

As an Explore Program Lead you engage with the Maersk business stakeholders to identify business challenges, responsible for the scouting of relevant startups and the execution of the engagement.

So… what is it that you will actually do?

As our new Explore - Program Lead you will spearhead crucial relationships with startups and Maersk by joining Camilla’s Team “Explore” at Maersk Growth. Camilla is our Head of Explore who leads our new innovation lever which allows Maersk Growth to work with mature startups without investing. You will play a critical role in establishing the brand of Explore in the startup ecosystem and leverage your expertise to identify great teams that can collaborate with Maersk on cutting edge solutions.

You’ll:

  • Work with key Maersk stakeholders in understanding business challenges that require leading technology solutions to support the strategic growth
  • Scout and engage with the startup ecosystem to identify great companies and products with the potential to create business impact
  • Deliver strategic value for Maersk and the startups we engage with by sourcing great products, and creating meaningful relationships
  • Be the key point of contact for the startups that we engage with and enable successful relationship with them through effective liaison
  • Operate as an empowered leader to create business impact for Maersk by focusing on near-term business problems and solutions to match
  • Lead / represent the brand of Growth and Explore at the area chapter that you are positioned in

We believe you’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have a genuine passion for and knowledge about the startup and investment ecosystem
  • Have founded your own business, worked for a start-up or have VC experience
  • Have hands-on experience working with accelerators, incubators or VC’s for execution of startup engagement programs
  • Have an energetic, confident and positive personality with excellent communication and presentation skills – you naturally own the room and people love listening to you
  • Are great at collaboration and stakeholder management
  • Can deal with high degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment where priorities (and scope) can change in an instant
  • Have proven project management skills and a strategic mindset – you get to the root cause faster than most – and then you get going i.e. you show up to work with an impressive drive
  • Have an innovative and customer centric mindset and personality, both from an internal and external point of view

So far, Maersk Growth's focus has been on venture capital investment as the primary form of engagement with early-stage startups in the ecosystem, which now holds a thriving portfolio of over 30 companies. 

We are now launching Explore, which is our venture client pillar. This new team will collaborate with mature startups and scaleups, focusing on Maersk’s near-term business problems across the organization with a specific eye on decarbonization and supply chain. We source business problems from the Maersk organization and look for mature startups/scaleups with a matching solution. Together with the selected startup we execute a joint PoC to validate the fit, and – if the fit proves true – then help the startup and Maersk land a long term vendor contract.
