You will be playing your part in building solutions that will allow Maersk to deliver net-zero emissions across the business by 2040. You will be joining a diverse and inclusive team that is changing the future of global logistics and also the planet. It is a Herculean task, which is why we are recruiting the best talent globally. Delivering on our mission is both technically challenging and inspiring - not just for us but for our customers also. We are designing and building an architecture that is agile and adaptive to change in technology, connecting assets from the 125 countries and five oceans we operate in.
We don’t have all of the answers yet, but we do have the vision and the team that will lead the way.
We offer
Maersk is embarking on an incredible journey, driven by the senior leadership team, in which we are expanding our value proposition to our customers within the digital space. We are actively working to take over new areas of the value chain of logistics, competing with some of the world’s leading players in this space.
This journey dictates that Maersk successfully acquires and merges with other companies for the benefit of our customers.
As a “Lead Cloud Software Engineer” within the merger and acquisition space, you will be given the opportunity to be at the forefront of this journey, working alongside our M&A team to transition the digital operations of acquired companies within different industries into the Maersk technology landscape - driving the core of the Maersk integrator strategy.
You will be working end to end with major migration and modernization projects, to optimize and modernize operational models to secure and optimize operations for our expansion into new areas of business.
M&A is a technically challenging environment in the mix between cloud-native architecture and standard IaaS-based workloads. Being thorough and methodical is a key competency in this role and having a broad knowledge background is a plus.
Key responsibilities
As a “Lead Cloud Software Engineer” within the merger and acquisition space, you will be responsible for the assessment, design, integration, and operational readiness of the digital solutions of the companies that Maersk acquires. Both in relation to Migration and Modernization strategies for the digital solutions for the acquisition, but also to help facilitate the migration of the workforce and how that can best fit into the Maersk digital estate and operations.
It will be your responsibility, with help from your 3000+ colleagues within engineering in Maersk to make this happen, and facilitate a smooth operational continuity and optimization for both parties in the acquisition – so that two plus two becomes six.
You will be working closely with a broad variety of colleagues in both engineering and business within Maersk giving you a broad internal network. But you will also be working directly with the engineers from the acquired company to secure a successful transition of both people and applications. This requires a good grasp of stakeholder management and networking and that you can navigate complex political situations, as well as having a strong technical foundation.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze a whole company’s application and infrastructure landscape and define a strategy for how to migrate, modernize, keep or decommission.
- Work with stakeholders internally and externally to define a roadmap for the migration
- Own the strategy and architecture for the transition of the acquired company’s IT landscape into the Maersk Estate.
- Design and own the operational strategy for how to manage and operate the digital solutions after they transition into Maersk
- Design key components of our integrated platform in collaboration with the wider architecture community in Maersk
- Mentor and lead other engineers within the Maersk engineering community
- Define and drive best practices within your areas of expertise within Maersk
- Representing the Maersk team in external technology events and conferences.
