The Global Sub Vertical Development Manager (Retail) has responsibility for developing sub vertical insight and value propositions on a global scale to expand Retail sales across Maersk. This covers all client attractiveness channels include Key Clients and RW as well as Booster, and will cover also Regional specifics and brand requirements.We Offer

In this career opportunity, the Global Sub-Vertical Development Manager is driving the further differentiation in the Retail portfolio down to the sub – vertical level i.e. the different Retailer types like supermarkets vs department stores vs online market places.

Your role will be to develop an understanding of sub verticals we should cultivate in Retail and why today and tomorrow, more over own the strategic development.

Based on that the value propositions developed for these sub verticals are the key driver for successfully acquiring and growing these sub verticals across brand portfolio and clients globally with potential regional flavors.

The sub-vertical lead is responsible for content, productivity and benefits towards the organization for value propositions and leads internal efforts from a content perspective with (sub-) vertical expertise and industry leadership. The role oversees the value proposition process from identifying and prioritizing focus areas to rollout, related business development and continuous upgrade of value propositions.

The position can be based either in Copenhagen, Denmark or The Hague, Netherlands.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy

  • Detailed understanding of sub-vertical industry and customers’ supply chain strategies and needs
  • Understanding of Maersk position vs. Competitor’s landscape
  • Develop sub-vertical specific value proposition content along with industry expertise and customer base
  • Seek input from global account teams and area vertical leads on value propositions
  • Develop unique selling proposition and differentiation against competition


Selling

  • Coordinate marketing and sales activities along development of sub-vertical specific value propositions
  • Drive sales pursuit plans linked to sub-vertical value propositions with leading areas and target accounts
  • Ensure sub-vertical value propositions are fit for purpose with customer needs and requirements


Delivering

  • Align and coordinate value proposition development with internal stakeholders
  • Align and coordinate value proposition, product catalogue and required product or platform developments with product and platform teams
  • Monitor and support business development initiatives to ensure sub-vertical growth targets are met

Key requirements:

  • Specialized knowledge of relevant sub-vertical industry, ideally 10+ years logistics / Retail industry experience
  • Ability to evaluate world trade, industry specific trends and impact on customer’s supply chain and develop solutions to leverage or mitigate
  • Excellent networking and communication skills to communicate at all levels incl. executive and senior management level at customer side and internally
  • Ability to work efficiently in a matrix organization and in cross-functional teams
  • Highly developed value selling or consultative selling approach
  • Ability to develop sub-vertical specific development strategy plans for short, medium and long term objectives
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to understand customers’ financial landscape, benefits delivered as well as internal investment proposal for value proposition development
  • Fluent communication skill in English
