As Data Product Delivery Lead for Fleet Management reporting to Senior Director – Head of GDA APMT & Fleet, you will be the organizational change leader and champion for insights and data products developments that will form the foundation of the division’s digital evolution. You will evaluate and design cross-functional enterprise business processes and products and partner with leaders across the team to execute new workflows. You will also partner with business leaders to drive and execute effective change management strategies associated with business process and technology changes.

What You Bring

The role of Data Product Delivery Lead, Data & Analytics for APM Terminals is responsible to define and drive the data strategy across the 700+ vessels operated by Maersk working closely with cross-functional team across business, platform portfolio and technology stakeholders across the company. Lead the effort in defining and executing data & analytics strategy, building a data driven organization and envision innovative and focused approaches to standardize and rollout data products across terminals.

  • Lead a team for 2 to 3 squads comprising of scrum masters, analysts, engineers (data, ml) including design and technical mentorship.
  • Partner with the business and data platform product owner to create a product roadmap and develop data products solving problems including decarbonization, predictive maintenance of assets and vessels, charter market forecasting and availability and controls for risk and audit.
  • Work in a target-state embedded operating model with platform portfolio owners and participate in the agile ceremony cadence in delivering high velocity and success.
  • Where needed work directly with the business product owners and deliver on-time solutions to meet the functional growth demands
  • Collaborate with Principal Architect and software delivery teams to prevent overlapping work and coordinate on interoperability requirements.

  • Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions
  • Manage technical debt and technology trade-offs, communicating those to the product and platform product owners
  • Accelerate a thriving data-driven culture using quantitative and qualitative measures that tie to Business (Company, Segment and P&L) objectives, with continuous improvements Identify opportunities and develop roadmap to improve adoption of AI/ML techniques within fleet management providing increased value and growth. Hire and develop high quality engineers while strengthening morale and cohesion across the teams Collaborate with multi-functional teams to develop a comprehensive understanding of the key drivers and opportunities within the business Handle priorities and clearly communicate expectations to department heads and the executive team Collaborate with other Engineering Directors on interdependencies and best-practices

What You Need to Succeed

Are you a natural bar-raiser: curious and passionate, with a desire to continuously learn more, which you use to understand basic business operations and the organizational levers that drive profitable growth. Communication, collaboration and visionary to transform from basic BI to insights and AI/ML driven organization.

  • 6-8 years’ experience overall in leading high-performance, global teams with demonstrated and measurable results, and in planning and prioritizing product platform roadmaps to launch successful data products and services.
  • Capability to deliver data products using a variety of techniques (from configuration to customization or even crafting of models) across descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive– with knowledge of when to use which technique
  • Experience driving complex tasks and projects to mitigate risk. You carefully evaluate and anticipate risks with mitigations before taking action, clearly articulate options and their impacts/consequences. You course correct when needed, expecting to fail fast and respond efficiently.
  • Ability to facilitate ongoing prioritization discussions, obtain consensus among stakeholders and carry those decisions through to communication materials, with refresh as needed
  • Ability to fully understand business goals and metrics, turn data into insights, and translate requirements into actionable analysis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, issue resolution, negotiation, and relationship management
  • Ability to present complicated technology concepts in a simple manner, and present key technology challenges or overviews relevant to senior technology leadership
  • Good knowledge of multi-cloud data ecosystem and build scalable solutions on cloud (Azure, GCP and AWS)
  • Good knowledge of Big Data Ecosystem (data lake, lake house, data mesh), Spark, Python, Kafka, Hadoop, Databricks, common third-party integration and orchestration tools.
  • A strong passion for adopting and introducing standard, automated and repeatable processes and led teams through fast paced development cycles; committed to automation, agile, lean-startup, continuous delivery approach and reduce total cost of ownership
  • Strong communication skills (written, oral) and ability to coordinate across a diverse group of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Able to work across organizational boundaries and matrixed reporting structures
  • Lead mostly with questions rather than opinions, thriving on the opportunity to own, innovate, create, and constantly re-evaluate
  • Passionate about engaging and developing talent; attract, develop, engage, and retain talented individuals with a compelling, unifying vision that steers and motivates

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (Desirable)

  • Knowledge of the shipping and/or logistics industry
  • Worked in a distributed work environment
  • Hands on architecture and design in building data products especially with IOT data
