Why should you work on the Energy Transition Platform?
The world is facing a climate emergency. We see it as our obligation – as an industry leader and with the resources available to us – to do all we can to get to net zero operations as fast as possible and to help our customers decarbonise their global supply chains end to end. You will work on Energy Transition products for the entire Maersk Group, stretching from Energy Sourcing, to Ocean, Air, Terminal Operations, Warehousing and Land Logistics. As a key player in an industry responsible for 3.5 billion tonnes of annual direct emissions, A.P. Moller - Maersk (Maersk) is committed to leading the decarbonisation of logistics and taking responsibility to be part of the solution, enabling a green and just transition. In early 2022, we announced the ambitious goal of advancing the target year for our commitment to reach net zero emissions by a full decade, to 2040. This applies to our own operations, but – even more importantly – covers all three emission scopes and supports our customers’ own climate commitments through the creation of end-to-end green products and analytics. In 2022, we improved our methodologies for scope calculations, allowing us to report more precise figures which increase the total emissions reported. Scope 3 calculations remain an evolving science, and our footprint will continue to evolve with more accurate data, and due to acquisitions and changes in our business.
The Business Platforms organization is at the forefront of developing cutting edge technologies to improve the customer experience with personalized and automated end-to-end digital journeys, that enable Maersk customers to access standardized products and services seamlessly. The Platforms help enable Maersk’s vision to be the Global Integrator of container logistics, connecting and simplifying customers’ supply chains. Additionally, the team creates the foundation to integrate data, systems and processes, powered by scalable digital Infrastructure and APIs.
Among other responsibilities, The Energy Transition platform team will build services to measure, calculate, and enable net zero commitments across our business by 2040. This means together we will:
- Identify, source, normalize and govern timely and accurate data to enable emissions calculations
- Provide a single source of calculated emissions measures and analysis using defined standard calculation methods with all applicable reporting schemes
- Provision calculated results to the end users (APIs, dashboards, consumer products etc)
- Beyond the carbon properties, we also need to ensure the sustainability criteria for all green energy sourcing is auditable
About you:
- You love ambiguity, navigating to alignment, and have a passion for details
- You can present to diverse audiences commanding both subject matter and technical expertise
- You have a passion for building product and working in the intersection of business, data, and technology systems
- You can multi-task and manage multiple projects at a given time and under tight deadlines
- You have experience leading a team of business analysts or product managers
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
The Platform team collaborates closely with our clients and internal teams and divisions —Sales, Marketing, Account Management and Client Services, finance and Technology— to refine and deliver the roadmap for platform. Your job is to create the best possible product for our clients, including:
- Serving as product owner on several high profile, high impact deliverables for our next generation of platform capabilities from concept through launch
- Drive extensive cross platform coordination to source both data that currently exists and work to create new data through software and/or hardware development
- Writing requirements that promote a positive end user experience
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to help build the long-term roadmap for platform capabilities
- Understand the problem space by connecting with end-users and stakeholders stretching from Energy Sourcing to Ocean, Air, Terminal Operations, Warehousing and Land Logistics
- Support a team of talented engineers to improve define, develop, deploy cycle, validate cycle and build a world-class data product
- Track the success of a given projects and product lines for our senior leadership and business product owners with KPIs
- Work with our Business Product Owners and customers to understand, refine and deliver a system that meets their requirements
- Lead the migration of users from legacy platforms/capabilities
What We're Looking for:
- The ability to thrive in early-stage environments where the question of what to build is as critical as how to build it
- BA/BS in finance, business, science or related fields
- 7+ years of product management experience working with Agile/Scrum
- A professional, highly dedicated, detail-oriented, and energetic personality, with the ability to work and thrive in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to create and deliver complex solutions including building platforms
- Demonstrable product development work experience. Familiarity with major data, research and analytics platforms a plus.
- Excellent presentation skills with proven ability to tell a story with data and to communicate complex concepts to a variety of audiences and stakeholder types
- Management experience, ability to lead without direct authority and develop a global team of product managers
- Experience successfully influencing multiple cross-functional teams to deliver products and projects on tight deadlines
