Head of Technical Department, Electrical Engineering

Are you an experienced people manager with a deep understanding of wind turbine technology and electrical engineering combined with a commercial mindset? Would it appeal to you to be overall responsible for developing and implementing short, medium, and long-term plans to grow the business of onshore and offshore electrical and HV inspection, repair, and maintenance services? Then you could be our new Head of the Technical Department at Swire Renewable Energy. The position can be based at the company HQ in Lystrup near Aarhus or London, UK.

Deliver safe working practices within the technical organisation
Reporting to the COO your overall mission will be to lead the Technical Engineering Division and manage a team of up to 8 dedicated engineers, across the technical disciplines of Electrical, HV, Mechanical and Blades. Thus, you will manage the overall deliverables of the engineering projects with consideration to timelines, budgets, and resource allocation effectively ensuring high performance, development, and engagement. You will be working closely with other departments (e.g. operations and commercial) to ensure integrated and efficient design solutions that meet our clients needs. You will have detailed LV, MV, HV electrical knowledge and more specifically, your tasks will be:

• Drive the design, testing, and implementation of electrical systems for wind turbines
• Oversee the development and optimisation of electrical documentation
• Support the commercial function with active electrical tenders and designing and developing new electrical services
• Implement innovative technologies and strategies to improve turbine efficiency and reliability
• Provide expert guidance on electrical engineering matters, staying abreast of the latest industry trends and advancements
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and to foster strong relationships
• Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth

Highly experienced electrical engineer with a passionate drive for development and performance
You probably hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related field, preferably combined with a deep understanding of wind turbine technology, including design, testing, and optimization. You possess a commercial mindset, understanding costumers and financial numbers in relation to projects, as well as a good contractual understanding and risk management skills. You might come from a similar position and have strong management/matrix organisation experience from an international company, preferably within the wind industry or the energy sector. You have significant experience as a people manager, capable of working collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and across different cultures. You are a motivating and enthusiastic team player who thrives with challenges every day. You have excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities with great impact. Furthermore, you have outstanding communication and project management skills and a passionate drive for performance. Finally, you are fluent in written and spoken English.
