About the role

Maersk Energy Markets acts as the sourcing arm for Maersk in terms of supply, storage, purchase and delivery of fuel for vessels. Maersk is the key customer (80), in 2022, Maersk Energy Markets handled almost 11m MT of total fuel purchases. With fuel being one of the main operating cost of Maersk's vessels expenses, Maersk Energy Markets focuses on optimizing along various channels, including blending, tolling and barging. We are a mixture of talented and passionate professionals, traders, and industry experts.

Maersk Energy Markets consists of around 70 employees located in a handful of offices around the world - from New York and Singapore to Rotterdam, Geneva and Copenhagen. The department is part of Maersk’s Energy Transition organization and covers both fossil fuels and sustainable energy.

We offer

An exciting position based in Copenhagen.

You will be an integral part of our dynamic Front Office team, handling bunker fuel deliveries to the world’s largest container and shipping fleet and other 3rd parties in Europe and have an important operational role keeping the world’s largest container fleet running efficiently.

Next to that you will liaise with external counterparties such as suppliers, agents, terminal customer service, barge companies, surveyors and authorities whilst furthering the commercial ambitions of Maersk Energy Markets.

Key responsibilities

Your main focus will be to lead the operations team and guide the day-to-day activities required for a smooth and continuous operation of barges / terminals and other assets we operate in Europe.

Key tasks;

• Lead the European operational team based in Copenhagen, Geneva and Rotterdam ensuring a high level of service delivery and efficiency for Maersk Energy Markets customers. Ensure daily execution runs at its best, optimizing operational processes and workflows to maximise commercial outcomes.
  
  
• Liaise closely with all internal and external stakeholders to drive current activities and anticipate future operational and commercial needs. Support orchestrating the necessary logistical set ups for new marine fuel types, including bio fuel and e-methanol.
  
  
• Develop commercial focus within the Operations team, liaising specifically with the trading department as key stakeholders. Work closely with trading to jointly create and evaluate new business cases for further optimization.
  
  
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with customers and suppliers, providing excellent mutual support and help resolving any issues that may arise.
  
  
• Own commercial barge relationships ensuring we have the most optimal contractual framework is in place.
  
  
• Measure barge performance and oversee correct asset and vendor management for Europe, ensuring best in class operational efficiency.
  
  
• Foster optimal cooperation across the broader Maersk organization, ensuring to minimize idle time and delays caused by bunkering whilst ensuring visibility of Energy Markets´ commercial impact.
  
  
• Lead projects to optimize supply chain related OPEX ensuring we remain cost competitive in all locations.
  
  

What are we looking for

• An energetic, pro-active and commercially minded leader who is familiar with operating in a fast-paced environment. An entrepreneurial person who is passionate about driving excellence within a multicultural team. Ideally you have experience in areas of Oil & Gas operations, bunker barge operations/shipping/the marine industry and servicing customers in a BtB environment.
  
  
• You will have an academic education in commerce/administration/shipping & logistics or equivalent industry experience.
  
  
• Fluent in both written and spoken English is a requirement whilst fluency in written and spoken Dutch will be an advantage.
  
  
• Experience in a related role is required.
