The Cooler Top & Nacelle Transport, Construction and Maintenance team is a part of the Vestas Power Solutions and we have sites both in Denmark, India and Portugal. The department is responsible for the design, specification and documentation of the cooling and conditioning, access packages and transport, construction and maintenance for wind turbines. We are also responsible for design and analysis from the early concept study for new turbines to the final specification for production. Additionally, we are also looking ahead to verify new technologies such that these can be part of future turbine projects.

Responsibilities

As Specialist, in the role of Functional Lead, you will be accountable for the design of complex mechanical design projects within Transport, Construction and Maintenance (TCM) of wind turbines, from the initial concept through to the final delivery, which includes the development of all the tools and processes.

Main activities under this responsibility will include:

  • Creation and execution of plans to ensure that design concepts are realised including facilitate technical reviews
  • Ensure that sub-module value stream team are engaged throughout the design process and ensure all key stakeholders are engaged
  • Work with Line Management and the Technical Structure, reporting out status of the projects and ensuring that they are efficiently resourced using DK and other design hubs personnel
  • Work with customer TPMs and PMs (Nacelle, Hub) to ensure that the Nacelle TCM Sub-module deliveries meets the expectations
  • Initiate staged gate deliverables to ensure design maturity at various lifecycle stages
  • Promote risk management awareness within the team and facilitate risk management reviews for the sub-module throughout the design lifecycle

Qualifications
To be suitable for this role, you will need to be a systems thinker who can maintain a clear understanding of the functional and non-functional requirements of your tools and the wider interfaces to other WTG sub systems and building blocks. Moreover, we expect you to have following qualifications:

  • MSc. in Mechanical Engineering with project management qualifications and appreciation of the staged gate model e.g. Prince 2
  • Minimum of 6 to 7 years of experience of complex project management tasks in a mechanical or structural engineering environment
  • Proficient in project management tools for example Jira
  • Proficient with MS Office Tools (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
  • Knowledge about 3D-Modeling or conceptual study experience preferably using Creo
