The job:

We are looking for an ambitious Account Manager based in Denmark to join our Fisher Scientific sales team. As Account Manager, Academic Segment, you will sell a wide range of laboratory equipment, consumables, chemicals, safety products/PPE and services to our customers engaged in research and development within large universities across Denmark. You will develop effective customer relationships, driving opportunities for growth within the existing customer base, while identifying and growing new business opportunities to achieve your sales and profit targets.

The sales territory for this role covers the whole of Denmark, with a particular focus on the Copenhagen area. Initially, due to the ongoing pandemic, travel will be very limited. However, when safe to do so, you will be required to travel up to 4 days per week, with frequent overnight stays. When not travelling, you will be able to work from home. Ideally, you will be based in the Copenhagen, Odense or Roskilde areas, but we are also open to candidates based anywhere in Denmark, providing you are happy to travel regularly to these areas.

Our Organisation

The role sits within our Research and Safety Market Division (RSD), branded as Fisher Scientific, which markets and sells a vast portfolio of laboratory products and services. RSD’s portfolio represents the product lines of Thermo Fisher Scientific and thousands of supplier/manufacturers in the laboratory space and includes Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Academic, Industrial and Government institutions that maintain scientific laboratories and engage in scientific research.

What will you do?

  • Work to drive Academic Segment-specific product sales, support supplier partnerships and actively promote core products and value added services
  • Maintain effective customer relationships, satisfy customer requirements and assure continued market penetration and profitability by making in depth calls to end user and purchasing contacts
  • Use communication and influencing skills to effectively utilize internal resources and maximize selling time
  • Develop and execute a sales plan for your territory to ensure revenue and gross margin objectives are met
  • Manage pricing within territory to optimize profitability
  • Establish relationships with key suppliers and negotiate improved terms
  • Leverage SalesForce.com to develop the territory pipeline and optimize territory coverage
  • Maintain a high level of business knowledge specific to your territory including product portfolio, competitor activity and sales positioning

Who we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science; or equivalent work experience and skills
  • Fluent in English & Danish (essential)
  • Sales mindset and strongly target-driven, with genuine desire to work in a sales role (essential)
  • Previous sales experience in any environment (strongly preferred)
  • Some experience of working in a lab and familiarity with laboratory products, equipment, consumables and processes an advantage
  • Confident personality, strong communication and presentation skills, able to engage with and influence a wide variety of contacts in a range of settings
  • Good overall IT skills; familiarity with a CRM such as Salesforce.com would be an advantage
  • Organised and good multi-tasker, able to manage and meet multiple competing deadlines
  • Valid Driving Licence
  • Willing to travel extensively on a weekly basis, including overnights
