We are seeking an organic synthesis chemist with experience in drug substance process development or API-manufacturing to join our team of dedicated chemists.

About the department
Our Chemical Development department contributes to the delivery of chemical active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), i.e. synthetic peptides, oligonucleotides and small molecules, as well as the delivery of chemical intermediates for the modification of recombinant peptides and proteins.
The department is involved in early non-clinical projects, up to Phase III GMP-manufacturing, process validation and transfer to commercial production. The aim is to develop robust, technically feasible and economical processes with minimal environmental impact. This is enabled by new technologies being pursued internally and by external collaborations with business partners and academia.
The present job lies within our early-stage chemical development team, where we support projects from pre-clinical to clinical Phase II stages. We do so in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders including discovery teams, analysis teams, pilot facilities, and external partners. Here you will find ~25 highly skilled and motivated colleagues who continuously challenge themselves and develop our business understanding. The job
You will have the opportunity to use your strong synthetic skills within classical small-molecule organic chemistry and solid-phase synthesis for the manufacture of API’s and chemical intermediates. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to apply your team working abilities to effectively progress our projects from discovery through early development stages.
It will be your responsibility to balance internal and external laboratory activities aiming to develop robust and scalable processes, suitable for manufacture of API’s and intermediates. You will also generate relevant technical documentation in development reports for use in later filings.
The workplace is located in Bagsværd, where we have new state-of-the-art chemistry laboratory facilities. These facilities are situated at the centre of an expanding chemistry hub, placing us in an inspiring environment in very close proximity to our key stakeholders, e.g. chemistry, recombinant, and purification pilots and other CMC development teams. You will be part of this dynamic work environment and impact the future directions for the development of manufacturing processes in a company with a growing focus on chemistry.
Qualifications
The main qualifications are as follows:
- PhD (or equivalent) within synthetic organic chemistry
- Professional experience with drug development and process chemistry from the pharmaceutical industry
- State-of-the-art knowledge about small molecule and/or peptide-protein chemistry
- It will be considered an advantage if you have previously worked with Contract Research Organisations or Contract Manufacturing Organisations
It is expected that you possess the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across disciplines in drug development and with external partners. You manage to be both a team player and independently drive complex development projects forward. You are result-oriented and take pride in delivering on time, and you motivate your colleagues with a positive, forthcoming attitude.
