Join us as our new Senior Department Manager for our Bacterial Strain Development department in R&D
You will lead a department with 15 dedicated scientists and research associates and be part of the Leadership Team in the Production Strain Technology (PST). The department’s focus is on developing and optimizing bacterial (Bacillus) production strains. It is the responsibility of the Bacterial Strain Development department to ensure state-of-the-art strain development and adaptation of new technologies for this. This all happens in close collaboration with the rest of PST as all work is carried out in cross-disciplinary agile teams.

In PST we develop and use state-of-the-art expression technology to make high-yielding production strains in microbial hosts. Today, PST consists of four departments that are divided into cross-disciplinary agile teams, and we collaborate closely with strain engineering colleagues globally and with e.g., Molecular Discovery. PST is part of Enzyme, Protein & Strain Engineering in R&D. The Bacterial Strain Development department will be the fifth department in PST, and further growth are expected.
In this role you’ll make an impact by
First of all you will make an impact by leading and developing scientists and research associates with focus on developing and optimizing strain building processes for new and optimized production strains, and by encouraging and supporting new strain building technology development in alignment with our R&D roadmap. In addition to this, you will be:
Potentially relevant experience
You must hold a Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry or similar. As this is a leadership position, you must have leadership experience from a R&D setting.

In this role you’ll make an impact by

Potentially relevant experience
You must hold a Ph.D. or M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Biology, Biochemistry or similar. As this is a leadership position, you must have leadership experience from a R&D setting.

- Solid understanding of enzyme/protein expression and cell factories
- A collaborative mindset and good people skills, being able to lead changes and bring motivation
- An open mind and be curious towards how enzymes/proteins provide value in real applications
- Strong communication, good networking, and great stakeholder management skills
