On behalf of Watson-Marlow Flexicon Group, based in Ringsted, we are recruiting for a position as Head of Engineering for aseptic filling systems for the pharma- and biotechnical industries. You will be managing an important engineering team, which delivers engineering solutions for customer orders and is actively engaged in new product development.
Watson-Marlow Flexicon has since 1986 been the preferred choice for liquid filling for GMP regulated industries (aseptic filling for the pharmaceutical and biotechnical industries).
The 70 competent and committed employees in Ringsted strive daily to deliver high-end high-quality solutions to customers all over the world (export share 95%+). The target group is for laboratory use and small to medium-sized batch productions that require flexibility, efficiency, and very high precision in a sterile environment.
Watson-Marlow Flexicon offers its worldwide customers a comprehensive range of process solutions, from stand-alone machines used for manual filling, semi-automatic systems through to fully automatic filling and capsulating machines for highly regulated industries where strong documentation and traceability are paramount.
You will manage an engineering team of approximately 15 persons, which consists of mechanical- and electrical engineers, documentation specialists and other skilled employees focusing mainly on New Product Innovation (NPI) to expand the product range of bio-pharmaceutical filling machines and systems.
Within an international organization with more than 2500 employees you will be part of the New Product Innovation Leadership Team within Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions (WMFTS) with reference to the international Head of Research and Development. You will also be a part of the factory Leadership Team in Ringsted, headed by the local General Manager.
Your primary tasks will be:
We expect you to have demonstrated leadership experience within engineering and/or R&D. Ideally from companies supplying products into the pharma or biotechnology industry, but it could also be from another regulated industry like healthcare, cosmetics, or food/beverages etc.

Your role as Head of Engineering

Your primary tasks will be:
- Manage and motivate a skilled engineering team
- Operational delivery of engineering for customer projects
- Operational delivery of New Product Innovation Programmes
- To work closely with the Product Management Team in order to develop specifications for new state-of-the-art products defined by market requirements
- Plan and secure resource allocation, ensuring delivery of:
- The 5 year road roadmap for New Product Innovation
- Product maintenance / Product lifecycle management
- Customer projects which require engineering support
- Secure technical support to the Factory Sales & Service Teams
- Develop budgets and plans that support the NPI strategy and operational sales forecast.
- Manage the expenses, deadlines, and resources for the team
Your background and competences
We expect you to have demonstrated leadership experience within engineering and/or R&D. Ideally from companies supplying products into the pharma or biotechnology industry, but it could also be from another regulated industry like healthcare, cosmetics, or food/beverages etc.
The right candidate for the job is also expected to have:
- Experience of leading a multiskilled engineering team, from mechanical, electrical (hardware and software) and the associated supporting project documentation.
- Complete product life-cycle management experience
- Excellent leadership/management skills and ability to motivate a team in an ongoing changing environment
- An ability to establish relationships with stakeholders in an international matrix organization
- Excellent communication skills in both Danish and English
