Fjord Line is looking for a new COO to drive initiatives that are optimising the company’s utilisation of the maritime operations and to improve the customer journey/value propositions as well as increase efficiency within the legislation. The COO oversees the organisation’s strategic and operational priorities in the fleet management department. This includes the safe and efficient operation of the fleet in accordance with highest standards of international ship management, relevant legislation and quality standards.
With direct report to the CEO, the COO will be overall responsible for these initiatives in close cooperation with a team of 20+ people and the rest of the Operations organisation which consists of a total of 150 people. The COO will be part of the management group.

Your qualifications are a proven track record with minimum 8-10 years’ experience in a similar operational management position in the Maritime/Shipping sector.
You have excellent organisational, time management and planning skills with a detailed understanding of the various links with other functional areas especially cooperating with the commercial organisation and HR. You have strong ability to provide leadership, promote and motivate a team environment to meet their objectives.
You must be able to develop people by coaching and mentoring to build organisational capability and bench strength.
You have a Master’s Degree in Machine Engineering, Master Mariner or similar maritime educational background.
You are a person with a high level of professionalism, honesty, and integrity. Strong business acumen and negotiation skills with ability to influence. You are structured and data driven, and well versed at driving this into the business.

- Manage all vessels are being operated according to valid maritime legislation
- Planning of schedules for all vessels
- Ensure safety onboard the vessels
- Manage ISPS Security onboard and all terminals
- Contacts to all authorities related to operation of the vessel incl. classification
- Manage docking and maintenance of all vessels
- Manage vessel insurance
- Rebuilding’s onboard in all departments
- Cost control and follow up according to budget
- Optimise operation of vessel both environmental and cost
- Ensure compliance with applicable maritime regulation, incl. but not limited to ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL
- Crisis management
- Be Fjord Line’s representative in commissions and committees of public and certain private organisations
