The Head of Compliance Projects will assist in the initiation, ongoing progression and maintenance of the company’s compliance (anti-corruption, foreign trade controls and competition law) efforts to ensure that Maersk has a robust compliance program aligned to the US DOJ (FCPA), OFAC and other laws regulations/guidance. He/She will help to preserve the company’s integrity by making sure it stays on a lawful and ethical course.

Key responsibilities


Under the supervision of the Chief Compliance Officer, the Head of Compliance Projects will
• Work to develop, implement, and evaluate departmental goals, strategies, programs, and projects that support the Maersk Compliance Teams overall goals.
• Assist in the planning, development, and execution of compliance projects established goals and timelines.
• Formulate, affect, interpret, and implement compliance policies and procedures as needed.
• Develop and prepare reports of factual observations, findings and recommendations designed to improve compliance.
• Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies
• Develop and oversee compliance Risk Assessments
• Evaluating the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously
• Revising procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues
• Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control
• Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate

We are looking for


Technical Skills:
• Proven experience as compliance manager
• Strong project management skills
• Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities
• An analytical mind able to “see” the complexities of procedures and regulations
• Ability to perform detailed work accurately and within agreed upon deadlines.
• Team-oriented, with an ability to value a diverse and geographically dispersed teams
• Knowledge of project management software and MS Office including, Sharepoint
• Superlative oral, written and interpersonal skills that convey proficiency, professionalism and respect
• Must have the ability to recognize and define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and develop proposed solutions based on a variety of information including abstract and concrete variables
• Well-versed in legal guidelines and corporate governance best practices
Relevant experience:
• Between 4-5 years of compliance experience specifically pertaining to FCPA and OFAC laws.
• At least 5 years project management experience, preferably at a multi-national
• Master’s degree in law, finance, business administration. Project management certification a plus.
• Certified compliance professional
Business Skills:
• Handle multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner
• Able to work well with others
• Self-starter and must be able to work independently but also manage teams
• Must be able to exercise good judgment and positively influence and lead others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency
• A high degree of professionalism to engender respect and build rapport as a knowledgeable and helpful resource within and outside the compliance team
• Ability to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan, prioritize and accomplish goals

• Professional of high ethical standards
• Works diligently to complete their duties keeping in mind the objectives of the business.
• Results-oriented
• Strong process-oriented approach to work and excellent attention to detail
• Resilient team player who is goal-orientated and demonstrates a high level of commitment with the ability to work under minimal supervision
