Strategic Sourcing is an internal procurement consulting function anchored in the Maersk Procurement organization supporting all brands and geographies across Maersk.
Our primary aim is to provide high quality project management, analytical, negotiation, and strategy development support for procurement (and procurement-adjacent) projects together with business experts and local spend owners.
Following the six-sourcing steps methodology and focusing on developing unique ways to analyze and interpret existing contracts and business data sources helps to ensure that no stone is left un-turned when tendering or re-negotiating spend under our scope.
An exciting opportunity to lead a team of 17 sourcing professionals where you will be accountable for driving cost leadership in close cooperation with procurement leaders across brands and geographies.

As Head of Strategic Sourcing you will be responsible for a variety of leadership and strategic tasks, including:
• Leading a team of high performing sourcing professionals in Copenhagen and Mumbai who are supporting stakeholders across the globe in executing tenders, re-negotiations, large scale analytical exercises, and operational reviews
• Setting the strategic direction and priorities for the team in close coordination with the Head of Procurement Delivery and procurement owners in the Maersk business units
• Developing a robust pipeline of projects across brands together with regional procurement leaders, and ensuring the proper support is deployed across initiatives to maximize value for the business
• Driving a high level of team engagement and performance through coaching, mentoring, and acting as a sparring partner on projects and individuals
• Driving strategic leadership through talent management and succession planning
• Developing departmental plans, including long term and short-term priorities jointly with the Head of Sourcing Mumbai
• Having direct accountability for project management of advanced and complex projects across spend categories & brands – including playing a lead role for global engagements owned by Strategic Sourcing
You must thrive in a fast paced, fast changing and dynamic environment and be a true team player with strong analytical abilities and communication skills.
The ideal candidate would have a master degree combined with at least 5 years of relevant experience and a proven track record.
Furthermore you:
• Have past team leadership experience in a project based environment and able to delivery strong results through others
• Have excellent procurement, sourcing process knowledge and negotiations skills
• Are familiar with business cost drivers and supply chain landscapes
• Are a top performer who excels in executing under pressure and delivering high quality products both individually and via the team
• Understand stakeholder management excellence and can build rapport even in challenging situations across a wide variety of roles
• Are ambitious, self-driven with entrepreneurial spirit and independent decision-making ability
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills.
