Maersk’s Technology organisation offers a unique opportunity to impact global trade via the largest container shipping company in the world.
Platform portfolio 3 contains three platforms focused around an SAP core. Unlike platforms based upon microservice technology they cannot operate independently of each other and need to be co-ordinated. In addition, Portfolio 3 is currently based around a project model and almost completely outsourced. The Portfolio needs to transition to an internally sourced agile model in which these integrated platforms fit within a broader microservices and bespoke environment.
Over the coming years the portfolio will build and deploy a an S4/HANA implementation of Finance and Transportation Management modules as well as a wide range of other SAP technologies and web services.

• Support our business and IT teams (located across geographical locations) to define, design, build and test S/4HANA modules/applications in order to meet our tax and legal requirements as part of our S/4HANA implementation
• Evaluating the business’ tax and legal requirements, along with process requirements to build the optimal Tax Engine design, alongside the wider SAP Global Tax Management suite of modules and wider tax technology solutions
• Design, build and integrate tax requirements and processes into the Tax Engine and SAP systems architecture to meet our business needs now and in the future
• Understand and identify the key tax touchpoints across the end-to-end business processes – OTC, PTP and ATR - to ensure the right alignment of data, and process design feeding through into the Tax Engine and S/4HANA functional and technical design
• Assess systems architecture (Tax Engine, SAP and other systems) currently in place to recommend design and solution options to improve it or fill the gap
• Assess business impact of functional and technical choices made, and help resolve technical problems as and when they arise
• Support the project team in developing/ maintaining good programme working relationships across stakeholders to keep them informed of challenges/ risks/ issues with the solutions being implemented
• Providing regular updates to the project team on how the project is running against projected scope, timeframes and deliverables etc.
• University Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Mathematics
• Implementation experience of major third party tax engines such as Vertex or Thomson Reuters (preferably with SAP S/4 HANA integration experience)
• Experience of scoping, designing and configuring tax engine interfaces to SAP (for either Vertex or Thomson Reuters or both).
• Detailed knowledge of Thomson Reuters or Vertex Tax Engine configuration - Enterprise structure, transeditors/ tax assist rules, geo-locations, tax authority regimes, exemptions, product mappings, tax code mappings, reference lists, product mapping and other key configurable items in a tax engine set up.
• Experience of project methodologies – Agile, Waterfall, etc. and how tax engine deployment fits in each one.
• SAP module experience covering FI, MM & SD and a working knowledge of Tax procedures, Tax conditions, GL set up, tax codes, access sequences, conditions records, intercompany tax configuration
• SAP transaction debugging and tax engine logs read/analysis
• Experience with SAP and tax engine configuration migration process.
• Experience of SAP Functional specification document for tax enhancements, tax engine design and configuration document
• Experience of SAP O2C & P2P scenarios testing and analyzing outcomes for Tax

We are looking for
