The Business Platforms organization is at the forefront of developing cutting edge technologies to improve the customer’s experience with personalized and automated end-to-end digital journeys, that enable Maersk customers to access standardized products and services seamlessly. The Platforms help enable Maersk’s vision to be the Global Integrator of container logistics, connecting and simplifying customers’ supply chains. Additionally, the team creates the foundation to integrate data, systems and processes, powered by scalable digital Infrastructure and APIs.One of digital platforms is enabling our Ocean Fleet to be the best performing, operating at industry best total cost and creating a world class working environment for our seafarers. It consists of four functions. First, Fleet Energy Efficiency help the fleet navigate optimally, by determining the safest and most energy efficient route. It leverages a data rich environment supported by a range of IoT sensors and computer aboard our vessels to understand the latest vessel and ocean conditions, to model the variables and their complex interactions using AI and Machine Learning. This function focuses relentlessly on delivering energy efficiency for one of the world’s largest ocean fleets with a capacity of 4.3 million TEU. Second, Ship Management focuses on driving digitization and automation of the core functions around operations, compliance, fleet maintenance, marine HR that help the Ocean Fleet deliver seamless and industry best network performance. Third, Chartering and Portfolio Management focuses on supporting the chartering operations that form a vital function to supply capacity and engage with a community of over a hundred ship owners. Lastly, Cargo and Container Enablement allows IoT devices onboard reefer containers to transmit data that allows customers visibility to their valuable cargo, 24/7 enabling industry best supply chain visibility and control tower solutions. These four functions are critical in enabling the Ocean Fleet to support Maersk’s integrator strategy with the world’s safest ocean fleet, a great workplace for seafarers, delivering a superior delivery performance for our customers and industry best costs.
The Head of Fleet Platforms has the overall responsibility for bringing the platform’s vision to life; from setting the strategy, hiring and developing the best Product Managers in the industry and overseeing the development of multiple innovative software products to create an industry-leading customer experience that will delight our customers around the world.
Responsibilities
- Define the platform’s long-term strategy and translate it to a data driven operational plan.
- Define the platform’s customer centric KPI’s and build a closed loop mechanism to monitor and report on these.
- Build partnerships with technology leaders and with a large-scale global technology organization to build cutting edge software solutions that enhance customer experience, launch market-leading products and solutions to create sustainable competitive advantage.
- Hiring and mentoring of top Product Management talent and manage a large-scale Product Organisation.
- Be the customer’s ambassador in various Maersk Senior Executive forums.
- Lead innovation and thought leadership in our journey to change and digitise the Logistics and Services industry.
What you bring
- MBA/MS from top tier, globally recognized university.
- 15+ years’ relevant experience in leading Product Management teams in global Technology organizations, leading products from conception to delivery in an agile, outcome driven manner.
- Experience in managing a complex data environment, establishing standards, collating, normalising and aggregating data from multiple sources.
- Proven experience identifying, hiring and developing world-class talent.
- Expertise in articulating and executing a customer-centric digital strategy, ideally in a B2B product. (Experience in sustainability and carbon emissions accounting is a bonus).
- Experience managing and influencing a diverse, global team of product managers, UX and design, content, marketing and ecommerce, in a matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills, ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases.
