Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer in Svitzer, the successful candidate will join the Commercial team in our Head Office based in Copenhagen, Denmark.
In this newly established position, you will be responsible for developing new business models and value propositions for the company’s future growth by guiding and supporting a team of entrepreneurs, who will be searching for and validating business models and value propositions around opportunities for growth.
Designing a space for invention is of great importance in this role. You will be responsible for creating the habitat for the Svitzer team to experiment and learn, and establishing an environment where ideas can be thoroughly tested and in which you must defend the culture, processes, incentives, and metrics that are born out of innovation.
Your responsibilities also include introducing innovation accounting. You must develop a new process that measures whether you are making progress in building new businesses. Also, you will work closely with the CCO, CEO and Svitzer’s Leadership Team to ensure resources and assets are available to validate or invalidate ideas. You will be responsible for building a partnership with the entire C-suite to discuss progress and share new ideas. You will also recognize the importance of handing over a validated business model that demonstrates opportunities to scale.
You are passionate about building businesses and you produce growth engines with calculated bets. You come with some years of professional experience in a similar position with good knowledge to share. Ideally, you have worked in both worlds, corporate and start-up, and know how to cross-fertilize the best of both for Svitzer.
As our ideal candidate, you are:
• Customer focused: you always put the customer first and have the toolbox and experience to identify and validate key customer problems
• Business case oriented: you have the ability to work with a brief list of assumptions
• Project oriented: you have strong project management skills allowing you to follow multiple innovation projects
• Happy to do the hard work: you will lead the way in every aspect of the innovation process, from crafting growth opportunities to executing on calculated bets; from gathering customer insights to leading small project teams of indirect reports
• Able to manage failure and expectations: you make others aware that future is always uncertain; you are comfortable with uncertainty and see failure as an opportunity to learn and iterate towards a solution
• Willing to change: you are willing to take the first steps and inspire others to follow
• Curious: you love to deep dive into new domains
• Optimistic: you believe obstacles are just a trigger for change
• Fast and furious: you find shortcuts; done is better than perfect
• Strategic sighted: you are able to inspire others with a clear vision
• Digital and future tech savvy: you have background in or experience with leading innovation projects with focus on digitalisation
You have a relevant Bachelor or Master’s Degree and proficiency in both oral and written English as this is our working language.
You must also hold a valid Danish residence and work permit.
