The Job

Saxo Bank has recently decided to restructure its approach to data management in order to meet future needs, and is thus looking for a new Head of Data Governance to spearhead this change initiative.

Reporting to the Chief Data Governance Officer, you will drive the data governance change initiative and act as the daily coordinator and as such manage a small virtual data governance team, yet to be staffed.

Saxo Bank have started the journey of transitioning to a modern data platform including a redesign of the streaming data bus, and the enterprise datawarehouse, all eventually running in the Microsoft Azure cloud.

We are currently defining how to best support data governance, data quality management, data dictionary and data cataloging capabilities in our new data platform.

Given Saxo Bank’s technology focus and consolidated IT systems we are looking to implement a data governance framework that is designed around adding value to the business, leveraging and unlocking future potential of the Group’s data assets.

We have chosen a “fit-for-saxo-purpose” federated data governance model, with a small central governance team defining the policies, guidelines and rules of engagement and who will also be driving and facilitating the change program. Data asset ownership and stewardship will be residing in the lines of business.

Important Data Governance matters is handled in the Data Governance committee, chaired by the Chief Data Governance Officer, but managed by the Head of Data Governance.

Your Line Organisation

You will be part of the Group Finance and Risk (GFR) Chief Operating Officer (COO) Officer, as the Chief Data Governance Officer is also the COO of Group Finance and Risk (GFR).

Group Finance and Risk (GFR) organisation is the business unit containing the Group’s corporate functions, including Group Finance, Group Treasury, Group Legal, Group Risk and Capital Management and Group Compliance.

The GFR Chief Operating Officer (COO) Office is a small team working with data, process management and infrastructure in a strategic, development and change context. In addition to having the ownership of the groups data governance framework, the team is tasked with facilitating execution of the Groups overall strategy when it comes to digitizing and automating the Group’s processes within the GFR organisation, and in doing so defining a long term digital strategy for operating its corporate functions in a forward looking and efficient manner.

The team works in the Crossfield between Business stakeholders and IT development teams, aiding in defining new solutions to common and new challenges in order to deliver on the Groups strategy.

Your Responsibilities

The Position includes the below responsibilities;

  • Product Ownership of the data governance, data quality management and data catalogue solutions we implement
  • Drive the implementation of Data Governance, including defining and assigning ownership for the enterprise data assets
  • Working with the Data Owners to bring their data assets under the new governance model
  • Project Management of the Data Governance Initiative
  • Facilitate the daily operations of the virtual Data Governance Team
  • Owning the Data Entity Definitions in the Data Catalogue
  • Coordinate the Data Governance Committee
  • Measuring the effectiveness and impact of the data management programme
  • Monthly Progress reporting to Chief Data Governance Officer and Committee

Your Profile

  • You have hands on experience driving data governance or data platform implementations.
  • You acts as the bridge between business and technology and are equally able to engage with developers and business analysts.
  • You have experience from the financial or technology sector.
  • You are accustomed to managing complex projects and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneous.
  • You are able to drive changes in culture and organisation to ensure we develop a strong data culture.
  • You are used to doing business analysis and have a flair for developing and specifying solutions, often adopting new technologies.

You have great people skills and can easily understand and explain complex situations. You are able to build valuable business networks which require good communication skills – connecting people with different functional and cultural backgrounds.

You have knowledge of IT infrastructure and development work flows.
