DanChurchAid is looking for our new Senior Advisor, Gender Equality

Gender inequality remains a major barrier to human development and gender disparities are a persistent form of inequality all around the world. There is a deep, pervasive and relentless pushback on women’s rights and the advancement of gender justice, which DCA has an obligation and commitment to fight against from a transformative gender equality perspective. We are looking for a Senior Advisor to join an organisation with an unwavering and integral commitment to Gender Equality. Our new Senior Advisor must be a dynamic and visionary person who will take leadership of our already strong gender platform and drive it forward, developing new approaches and pursuing new opportunities for greater impact where we work.

The position
DCA pursues its three Global Goals; Save Lives, Build Resilient Communities and Fight Extreme Inequality based on cross cutting commitments to a Human Rights Based Approach, Gender Equality, Religion and Development as well as with a strong focus on Partnerships. To ensure that our cross-cutting commitments are clearly defined, understood, mutually reinforcing and can be applied across the organization, the Senior Advisor position becomes integral and sits at the center of internal and external networks. You will lead on supporting and strengthening DCA’s country programmes, our strategic direction and global advocacy within your field ensuring maximum synergy also with the other cross cutting commitments.

The position sits within the Programme, Advocacy and Learning (PAL) Unit of DCA International Department, reporting to the Team Leader for Programme Support and as an integral member of several cross-thematic functional teams. The overall goal of PAL is to ensure that DCA maintains its abilities as a relevant, knowledgeable, innovative and consistent organization that delivers high quality interventions in pursuit of our international goals. As such you will be part of a unit that sits at the center of developing the organization’s global approaches. Daily, you will work with a wide range of skilled colleagues from across DCA in Denmark, our 19 country offices and from our global ACT Alliance, always seeking to maximize and leverage the combined knowledge and skillsets across the humanitarian-development-peace nexus.
We have high ambitions to accelerate our programme and advocacy efforts on gender justice, women’s political and economic empowerment, as well as gender protection. You will lead colleagues in a systematic documentation of DCA’s and partners’ work on women’s rights, empowerment and equality in development and humanitarian settings and you will work closely with the communications and stakeholder colleagues to help set the tone of DCA positioning in Gender in Denmark.

Roles and responsibilities
The position will be formed according to the current needs of our organization and operations, your skills and experiences as well as those of other colleagues, and we will look to let the position evolve over time.
