A unique opportunity to join DanChurchAid and lead one of Denmark’s best performing and most professional team of fundraisers. As the Head of GPRM Unit, you will be responsible for ensuring adequate funding and donor partnerships for DCA’s programmes and projects from institutional donors and private foundations to maximize impact against our global goals. You will be responsible for a strong team of 15 persons who annually work to support DCA’s 17 country offices in the submission of 100-150 applications to international donors and private foundations, which in 2020 gave an income of 525 million DKK. As Head of GPRM, you report to the International Director and is an important member of DCA’s International Department’s management team.
During the next 12 months DCA’s new 8-year Global Strategy will be developed. The strategy will guide DCA and ensure relevance and the position as Denmark’s leading and most influential international NGO. The new Head of GPRM will play a key leading role in resourcing the Global strategy and the projects under each of the three international goals.
The GPRM Unit manages and coordinates DCA’s strategy, analysis of and engagement towards institutional donors and private foundations and supports country offices and HQ units in their efforts to fund their activities. This involves facilitation of DCA’s donor related partnerships where we have strategic objectives, and where DCA can contribute to policy developments and technical guidance in our areas of expertise. It involves supporting DCA´s HQ units and country offices in the development of applications and management of contracts, ensuring quality and adherence to donor requirements and regulations. It also involves the continuous exploration and development of new funding streams and partnerships to ensure a sustainable funding level of our work.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Manage an effective fundraising team, build the needed competencies, and create a confident and dynamic working environment in GPRM.
- Lead on maintaining engagement and network with relevant institutional donors such as the EU, US and UN institutions, European development agencies and private foundations in Denmark and abroad.
- Lead on donor trends analysis and the identification of new funding streams and development of proper strategies towards these.
- Support the International Director and the management team in the development of any long-term strategy to achieve agreed long term organisational goals.
- Lead the annual planning process to produce effective strategies to achieve income targets across the range of revenue streams including taking lead on forecasting of project income from international and private donors as part of DCA´s annual budget process.
- Maintain income/expenditure and cost coverage tracking and assessment systems within GPRM´s areas to support monitoring and decision making in management, relevant units, and country offices.
- Understand the risks of international and private donor contracts, advice the team and DCA management on how to deal with these and develop the adequate systems and tools to address these.
- Lead on the ongoing capacity building of DCA staff in HQ and country offices, as well as partners, in fundraising. This includes being responsible for the development of relevant systems and tools, including e-learning solutions.
- Ensure good and effective collaboration with all country offices and relevant HQ units.
- Ensure good collaboration with relevant external stakeholders and fora, including sister organizations of the ACT Alliance.
You have the following essential skills and knowledge:
- Demonstrable experience of managerial capacities in a comparable national/international organisation, including developing and implementing strategies and business plans.
- Ability to build a confident, dynamic, and effective work environment and sustain motivation in a working environment characterized by many deadlines, attention to details and changes.
- At least three to five years’ experience in direct fundraising from working with institutional and private donors in an international organisation, donor agency or similar.
- Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder and donor relationships.
- Experience of utilising the strength of an organisation brand for business development.
- Proven track record of meeting challenging income targets.
- High level of knowledge of the institutional donor and private foundation sectors, including relevant networks in these sectors.
- Effective dissemination of information to large and diverse groups.
- Track record of bringing innovative creative thinking and fresh ideas to an organisation.
- Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously, take initiative and make decisions.
- Strong collaborative and communication skills in English - other languages are an asset.
