As the largest and most experienced provider of digital infrastructure in Denmark, TDC NET delivers stable and future-proof connections in Denmark. We maintain the existing digital infrastructure, while investing in new technologies that enable us to expand and improve connections nationwide. Danish consumers are making increasing demands on the speed and range of the technologies and infrastructure, and we expect demand to continue to grow. For this reason, we are constantly working to expand our network throughout Denmark. We are the critical tdcnet enabler in achieving our company strategy. As from 1/1 2022 tdcnet is an independent company with its own IT function. We have just started the next phase of our exciting change journey. This phase will take 3-4 years and is as close to a greenfield building of a modern IT architecture and application portfolio as one can be in a 100+ year old major enterprise. The journey is necessary, complex with many development opportunities for the right candidates.
Your new role
We are looking for a tenacious change leader, who can accelerate the journey towards a lean, API-first, robust application integration approach, based on modern technologies such as Mulesoft and Kafka, and who will build a best in class IT-team for the area, working closely with process owners and other IT development teams. The Head of API & Integration (HAI) is a key leader in the IT organization with overall responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of a robust API and integration platform. In this role, your key responsibilities will be:
- Build the external API portfolio that is needed for the existing and new tdcnet customers. With all aspect of programme management (execution, risk mitigation and budget handling).
- Design, build and maintain the tdcnet API and integration platform
- Ensure the target applications are standing on a solid datamodel foundation
- Ensure both effective programme governance and ongoing governance with a complex stakeholder landscape, both within IT, tdcnet and with customers. Make it easy for all development teams to use the integration standards and components.
- Build and manage a top of the class IT team to execute on the consolidation programme and manage the target applications effectively.
The position is anchored in TDC NET IT and reporting to Executive Vice President & CIO, Joss Delissen (part of the TDC NET top management). In daily operation, the role will work closely with Joss, other members of the IT leadership team and business process owners and other stakeholders, with a high level of responsibility and autonomy. Initially the role will be setup as a key part of the foundational programme creating the new core applications and customer interfaces, reporting to the head of the programme.
What you’ll need to succeed
The HAI role requires a senior leader with proven track record in managing an API and integration platform and enabling use by all developers in a company. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge and concrete learnings from similar programs. Furthermore, we need a manager who lives change, is tenacious in pursuing simplification and automation and has top range influencing skills engaging with peers to realize the maximum potential. As an ideal candidate for the role, you have the following:
- University educated to master’s level or above with focus on IT enabled business transformation
- 5-10 years of professional experience dealing with API-management, integration and platform consolidation (ideally with ~3 years of experience from a similar role)
- Track record of completing similar activities in complex environments
- Solid background within the field of Software Integration which includes working with modern API platforms such as Mulesoft, Apache Kafka, etc.
- Experience with aspects of defining integration strategy, delivery, discussions with customers, publishing articles and industry presentations with strong understanding in various integration architecture methodologies
- Technical experience in integration patterns, governance, security, and information modelling that pertains to integration and experience in the promotion of and delivery of API-first initiatives
- Ability to reduce complexity and communicate clearly
- Natural inclination to simplicity and pragmatism
- Natural flair for stakeholder management and relationship building (across business areas)
- Leadership qualities to motivate and engage a team of specialists
Candidates with lower qualifications, but demonstrable experience / capabilities will also be considered.
