About the Biostatistics area
The Biostatistics function currently consists of approximately 250 statisticians and statistical programmers globally. Of these, 170 are situated in Denmark, where we are organised in departments supporting our development projects (e.g. GLP-1, Insulin, Haemophilia or Obesity). The Biostatistics function consists of statisticians and statistical programmers in roughly equal split.
Novo Nordisk has a broad R&D pipeline and majority of our statistical work is done in-house, thus we offer a wide variety of statistical challenges and provide a strong scientific community. We are organised in smaller units for each clinical project to ensure close collaboration with our various stakeholders.
The position
In the “Biostatistics Centre of Expertise” department, we are looking for a Statistical Director and senior statistical expert to strengthen Biostatistics’ support to the area of health technology assessments and price negotiations, which is vital for our success in bringing our products to the patients. You will be the key driver in setting directions for an improved handling of Biostatistics’ contribution to this area as well as applying complex statistical methods.
You will work together with Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Medical Doctors, Medical Writers, Statistical Programmers and other Statisticians on coming up with ideas for and the execution of HTA dossiers across our projects, and across markets with their different requirements.
As Statistical Director for the area of HTA, you will be providing statistical advice to the projects on their HTA strategy and ensuring optimal handling of the HTA area in Biostatistics with focus on improved processes and methodologies as well as efficient knowledge sharing.
You will also be expected to engage in external networks and societies supporting the development in the HTA field of expertise and ensuring Biostatistics is utilising the latest methodologies within this. Furthermore, you will be part of preparing abstracts, posters and presentations for congresses and co-authoring manuscripts for journals, as well as you will be collaborating with external vendors on handling network-meta-analyses.
Coaching of less experienced colleagues is a natural part of the job and we expect you to be able to communicate statistical problems and ideas clearly to both statistical colleagues as well as stakeholders from other functional areas.
Development of methods and processes as well as knowledge sharing is continuously on-going in Novo Nordisk, especially based on the initiative of the employees. We expect you to take part in our dedicated efforts to make Biostatistics, globally, a good and challenging place to work. Qualifications
You have a solid theoretical background in statistics or similar corresponding to at least MSc level and have several years of experience within clinical and biostatistical research as well as experience with HTA. You must be able to act as driver and leading member of the project teams you are part of, and if you have experience from project management and supervision of colleagues, it will be an advantage.
You must thrive in a role where you independently and proactively set direction for the area while handling several challenging tasks in parallel without compromising the quality of your work. As such, you must be able to create overview, prioritise and bring a flexible and positive mindset when things are moving fast, and deadlines are closing in.
