One or two 2-year positions as Research Assistant are available at the Department of Public Health, Section of Biostatistics, University of Copenhagen, starting on September 1st, 2019 or as soon as possible hereafter.
The position
The Section of Biostatistics conducts general biostatistical research and methodological development in biostatistics, undertakes teaching of biostatistics for the health sciences and for students of mathematics/statistics, undergraduate as well as postgraduate, and offers a biostatistical consultancy service for the staff and students in all disciplines of the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The successful candidate will be working on biostatistical projects. The project work will usually have components in all of the disciplines: applied data analysis, development/application of advanced statistical methodology, coding of algorithms and computer simulation, and writing of research reports. Many of these projects are in close collaboration with a medical researcher. Usually a research assistant is involved in two projects at a time. The project work will always be in collaboration with a senior staff member. The successful applicant will be a statistician with a candidate degree in mathematics or statistics. Students who will soon finalize their candidate degree are also encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
- Degree or master student in statistics or mathematics (interested candidates with other backgrounds should contact Esben Budtz-Jørgensen before sending an application).
- Basic knowledge of regression analysis
- Experience with usage and programming of one of the major statistical software packages (R, SAS or STATA).
- General interest in biostatistics
Employment conditions
Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organizations. In addition to the seniority-based salary, the appointee will receive an annual supplement of currently DKK 40,350 and additional supplements may be negotiated on an individual basis.
