Division of Glial Disease and Therapeutics, Center for Translational Neuromedicine, University of Copenhagen is looking for a highly motivated akademics. The position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team engaged in neuro research. The position is for 12 hours per week, and is thus highly suitable for a Master student.
Description of the center and the research group
Our center is part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences of the University of Copenhagen and is located at the Panum Institute. We currently have 55 employees and students formed into two interacting groups: The Division of Glial Disease and Therapeutics and the Division of Cell and Gene Therapy. The Center comprises newly constructed laboratories with excellent facilities for neuroscience.
The research focus of the Division of Glial Disease and Therapeutics is on the basic biology of glial cells in the central nervous system, specifically astrocytes, and their role in several neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases, including stroke, spinal cord injury, epilepsy, tremor, ALS, schizophrenia. Sleep disturbances and the sleep-wake regulation of astrocytic calcium signalling are other focus areas of the Division. Our research is aimed at defining new strategies for the treatment of neurological diseases that target astrocytic dysfunction.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with the following qualifications:
Terms of employment
The successful candidate will be offered a 1-year position, 12 hours per week.
The employment as ‘staff scientist’ (AC-TAP) is starting date is 1 April 2020 or after agreement.
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Job description
The key tasks as an academic employee at CTN are to:
- Contribute to making systems of differential equations for transport models of tracers and endogenous proteins through the brain and around the body
- Implement solutions to these in python and matlab
- Compare and contrast these with data from MR, SPECT, 2-photon and other data
Qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate with the following qualifications:
- Training in ordinary differential equations (required, partial differential equations will be a plus)
- Programming skills in python
- Some biology background is a strong plus (interest required)
- The successful candidate should be organized, self-motivated, result-oriented and capable of working independently in a collaborative setting
- The successful candidate will possess strong written and oral (English) communication skills. Strong analytical, communication, organizational and computer skills are also required
