København N
We are looking for a highly motivated and independent staff scientist with extensive experience in cutting edge genomics technologies and data analysis to support our efforts in dissecting principles of epigenetic cell memory in mammals.
Our research
Our research goal is to understand how chromatin is replicated to ensure faithful transmission of genetic and epigenetic information. We are focusing on mechanisms involved in replication-coupled chromatin dynamics, propagation of histone-based information and the importance of new unmarked histones in identifying post-replicative chromatin for error-free DNA repair. To this end we are applying innovative proteomic and genomic approaches in combination with cutting-edge cell biology, advanced high-content imaging, single molecule analysis of replicating DNA, biochemistry and structural biology.
Recent publications include:

The Groth group is an interdisciplinary team of postdocs and PhD students. We put high value on idea sharing and collaborative research both within the group and externally (e.g. structural biology, proteomics, etc.). We have annual retreats with focus on research strategy, collaborative skills and team dynamics, and have implemented Creative Problem Solving as a tool to develop our research projects.
Your job
You will join a multi-disciplinary research team working on how epigenetic information is transmitted in proliferating cells. In particular, the lab has developed a panel of genomic tools to interrogate the impact of DNA replication on the epigenome. Your tasks will include epigenome profiling using diverse cutting-edge functional genomics tools (e.g., ChIP-seq, ChOR-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, HiC-seq) including data analysis. You will engage in developing new experimental approaches and data analysis tools for our ongoing and future projects. You will also support cell biology and genome editing activities in the group. You will be expected to contribute to and support the research projects in the group and collaborative work on an ad hoc basis; disseminate your expertise to new lab members, interact with core facilities and support the lab management.
Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic staff scientist with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills
The ideal candidate will be a team player and have excellent communication skills.
Place of employment
The employment is at BRIC, University of Copenhagen. BRIC hosts 25 independent research groups that perform basic and translational research aimed to understand diseases like cancer, neurological and metabolic disorders. For further information about the Groth group and BRIC: http://www.bric.ku.dk/.
We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment. We have weekly journal clubs, data clubs, seminars with invited speakers and a young researchers club ASAP and our own PhD programme, MoMeD and a Postdoc Career Programme (PCP). BRIC has extensive international collaborations and actively participates in the European alliance, EU-life consisting of 13 excellent life science research institutions http://eu-life.eu/ and is part of the EU-funded LIBRA initiative http://www.eu-libra.eu to obtain gender balance in life science research.
BRIC has a highly international profile (more than 60% international researchers) and English as working language. An International Staff Mobility Office at UCPH supports and guides international researchers through your initial steps in Denmark (e.g. residence and work permits, tax and pension, banking, medical care, childcare). They also offer a dual career network open for spouses of our researchers.
Terms of salary and employment
The employment as ‘staff scientist’ (AC-TAP) is a full time and permanent position. Starting date is 1 October 2019 or after agreement.
