About the Danish National Genome Center
The Danish National Genome Center is a government agency under the Ministry of Health. The Center is responsible for operating and developing a secure national infrastructure within the national healthcare system, supporting doctors and researchers in developing targeted therapies by leveraging knowledge about patient's genes and leveraging new technology.
Over the next few years the Danish National Genome Center (NGC), will contribute to an increased use of whole-genome sequencing and genetic diagnostics across the Danish healthcare system and expects to sequence around 60,000 whole-genomes. This requires comprehensive data analysis, interpretation, and knowledge sharing across the country. The clinical interpretation of the data will be performed at clinical departments in the regional healthcare system with extensive knowledge, including the Knowledge Base in NGC, as well as external knowledge and external databases. NGC is responsible for providing software and tools used for interpretation to the regional healthcare system.

The position is in the section that will lead the development of the genome database and interpretation support, which NGC has established to provide interpretation support to the Danish healthcare system. It includes, among other things, relevant software and tools for interpreting and classifying genomic variants. The development of the genome database covers for example optimization and implementation of reporting comprehensive genetic analysis to NGC.

Terms of employment

Depending on your academic qualifications and experience there is a possibility of being classified as a special or senior consultant according to appendix 4 "protocol concerning special- and senior consultants".

About the position

- Contact to the clinical environments in the regions to map needs and plan the design of the infrastructure that NGC will provide to the Danish healthcare system.
- As a clinical bioinformatician you will be a link between the clinical departments and NGC, and be part of a highly specialized team in NGC's supercomputer department.
The primary tasks include:
- Collaboration with team members and external stakeholders
- Plan and define the development of knowledge bases as support for the interpretation of genetic analysis, including a database for classified genetic variants
- Involved in planning and defining the development and implementation of software for the interpretation of genetic variants, including the need for other tools for variant interpretation and variant classification.

Required qualifications
