The Centre for Nano Optics (www.sdu.dk/nano-optics) at the Mads Clausen Institute, University of Southern Denmark, in Odense seeks outstanding candidates to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor level in the research and teaching area of experimental nano-optics. The position is available from March 2021.

The initial appointment is for a period of 4 years with the prospect of a performance-based advancement to a tenured position as Associate Professor. Promotion to the tenured status will involve a review by an international review committee. If the outcome is positive, the candidate will be offered a tenured position as Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark.

The successful candidate is expected to conduct cutting-edge experimental research within quantum plasmonics, preferably related to single-photon sources empowered by coupling to localized and propagating surface plasmon modes, by performing advanced modelling, nanofabrication, and quantum optical characterization.

The application material should include a detailed motivation and an outline of future research activities. In their applications, applicants should highlight their 3-5 most significant journal publications, detailing also their author contributions. The prospective candidate should have a Ph.D. degree within the mentioned research area and documented research experience in the aforementioned experimental techniques. We expect a notable international profile, a strong record of research publications, and a demonstrated exceptional potential to excel in scientific research. We expect the candidate to actively engage in the development of the academic research and educational environment at the Centre for Nano Optics.

The candidate is expected to teach and instruct both graduate and undergraduate students as well as supervise bachelor and master projects. Furthermore, the candicate is expected to contribute actively to young-researcher education through supervision of Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers.

Appointment to the position will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

Conditions of employment
Employment as an assistant professor requires scientific qualifications at PhD level and is a 4-year position.
