The Electrical Engineering Section at The Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), invites applications for full-time position as assistant professor in power electronics. The position is available starting from 1. April or as soon as possible thereafter.
The position belongs to the power electronics group at SDU Electrical Engineering in Odense. The power electronics group is focusing on research in compact high-efficiency dc-dc and ac-dc converters in the medium power range of 1-100kW. Research topics includes converter topologies, advanced magnetic component design, application of wide bandgap semiconductors, compact filter design and advanced converter control. The power electronics group has a long tradition for close collaboration with leading regional, national and international industries and academia in the field. The research group has world-class laboratory facilities that are continuously being maintained and expanded.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate, with very strong competences in power electronic design.
Candidates are required to have a proven research record in several of the following fields:
Qualifications
The candidates must have a PhD in electrical engineering or similar. Commensurate with the seniority of the position applied for, we also expect:
- A strong research and publication track record
- Solid experience with industrial collaboration
- A good record of teaching in the field of electrical engineering
- Experience in attracting research funding
Appointment to the positions will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

A panel will assess the qualification of the candidate for the described post based on the submitted material, which should include:

Assistant professorship
The assistant professorship is a 3-year temporary position and requires completion of the Danish University Teaching Education certificate as part of the position.
Requirements for the position
Employment as an assistant professor requires scientific qualifications at PhD level.
Applications will be assessed by an expert committee.
The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.
Shortlisting may be used. Shortlisted applicants will be assessed by an assessment panel.
As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, the applicant may be called for interview.
Conditions of employment
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
