The Department of Business and Economics and the Interdisciplinary Centre on Population Dynamics (CPop), SDU, invites applications for a vacant position as assistant professor for a period of three years within the area of demography and health economics, to be filled as soon as possible.
Job description
The position is part-funded by the Danish Research Council. The project is entitled “The White Death, Public Policy and Development” and studies the consequences of public policies targeted at reducing Tuberculosis (TB) prevalence and deaths for mortality and economic development prior to the invention of antibiotics. Using differences-in-differences and triple differences research designs, we propose to investigate different historical policies using data from the US, Denmark, and other European countries.
In addition, the position is two-third funded by the Interdisciplinary Centre on Population Dynamics (CPop). CPop conducts innovative research on changes in survival, longevity, and population aging, including their policy, economic, and cultural implications. The candidate is also expected to contribute to this research.

The successful applicant will be employed at the Department of Business and Economics, SDU and will be affiliated with the Historical Economics and Development Group (HEDG). The research and teaching activities at the department are organized within four groups: Accounting; Finance; Microeconomics, and Econometrics and Economic History. It is the aim of the department to conduct research of the highest international standard documented through:
Furthermore, the department emphasizes to offer high-quality research-based teaching using the newest teaching methods to enhance students' learning.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the teaching of courses in Economics and supervision of students at both the BSc and MSc levels.

Appointment to the position requires a PhD or equivalent and will be in accordance with the salary agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

Applications that are incomplete with regard to the above requirements will not be assessed by the committee.
Shortlisting and tests may be used in the assessment process.
