The research unit of Active Living, Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, invites applications for a position as assistant professor to be filled as soon as possible and until 30 September 2026.

Working hours may vary in the range of 85% to 100% during the period of employment depending on financing. The position includes research, teaching and supervision as well as research dissemination.

The position

The candidate will be working with themes related to interventions- and implementation science and will be part of Active Living - a multidisciplinary research unit team committed to the ambitions, obligations and values of the University of Southern Denmark.

Based on health and social science approaches, the research unit generate and disseminate knowledge about the conditions for and significance of lifelong physical activity and movement. Among other things, the position involves research related to physical activity in school and daycare and close collaboration with University Colleges via Centre for Primary and Lower Secondary Education Research, SDU and Research and Implementation Centre for Human Movement and Learning.

Besides developing an independent research profile, aligned with the research unit’s and the department’s strategies, the candidate will take an active part in research projects and engage in applications for external funding, often in collaboration with other research partners, research units and/or departments.

The candidate will be engaged in teaching and supervision activities related to the bachelor and master programmes offered at the Faculty of Health Sciences , develop and manage courses and supervise students.

Finally, the candidate will be expected to disseminate research-based knowledge internationally and nationally to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • A PhD degree within health sciences
  • Research experience related to the broad area of active living, documented by solid research outputs in peer-reviewed publications
  • Documented record of teaching and supervision experience at various levels relevant for the department’s portfolio of study programmes
  • A solid track-record on participating in research projects and groups
  • Competencies in relation to knowledge exchange activities and collaborations with and for the wider society
  • Motivation for study programme and/or course development and coordination

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
