As the Network Portfolio Development Manager, you will lead on the portfolio development our network, perimeter and operational support systems (OSS) platforms and products that enable our highly distributed global business for site, fleet, asset and IoT connectivity, required to deliver against our integrator business strategy.

You will be exposed to a wide and challenging range of needs and opportunities requiring you to engage closely with senior stakeholders across all management levels within Maersk as you mature, evolve and operate our portfolio of networking and perimeter capabilities to become world class.

A globally focused shipping and transportation organisation is continuing to drive an ambitious and complex change and transformational programme to deliver a service of excellence for its customers and clients worldwide. The Global CTIO has a mandate from the Maersk board to lead the Technology transformation of Maersk which will enable the Maersk business strategy to become the global integrator of container logistics through digitising the Maersk business processes and customer engagement.

The Technology function is fundamental to enable the company’s transformation and in response to this demand, our in-house technological capability is growing exponentially. We are recruiting world class talent to ensure that the technology services are modernised to enable Maersk to become a logistics integrator leveraging a competitive advantage through technology.

The Network Strategy & Portfolio Operations function is essential to our transformation, it is a central team within Network Architecture & Engineering, responsible for strategy & transformation, portfolio development and the business operations of the network, perimeter and underpinning systems and tools capabilities provided to the Maersk business.

Reporting to the Head of Network Strategy & Portfolio Operations you will serve as a Network Product Architect. This is a senior level role, responsible for the network and perimeter portfolio architecture & strategy, roadmap, development, product LCM and demand management of products and tooling solutions which deliver connectivity centrally and locally into the business and tech echo system.

It has a critical role to play as we continue to develop our long-term multi-technology and multi-product network and perimeter capabilities, connecting our asset, sites and people on land and at sea. Delivering best in class connectivity and perimeter services that not only meet the need of our business today but will be a differentiator, enabling our colleagues and partners with technology solutions that are a catalyst for productivity and innovation.

Scope -


All data networks provided to Maersk across Core, Edge and Cloud locations (offices, warehouses, terminals, vessels, data centres, cloud etc), and the perimeter services that protect and enable them including but not limited to:

  • Wireless Transport: Satellite | 4G/LTE | 5G
  • IoT Networking Solutions: Industrial Wi-Fi
  • WAN: Internet | IP/MPLS | Next-Gen/SD WAN
  • LAN: DC Networking | SDN | Fixed & Wireless
  • Perimeter : Load balancers | NG Firewalls | Security Service Edge
  • Time Synchronisation: GPS | Grand Master Clocks

Specific Job Requirements -


The role holder will Lead and drive all network, perimeter and OSS investment cases to deliver value to Maersk and be responsible for assessing the likely impact of proposed developments; produce aggregated ROM and Firm costs ,manage the calendar-of-commitments and agree ‘Clean Demand’ with TSE Product Owners and the business.

Analyze and translate customer experiences and technical requirements into products that achieve business objectives

Collect, collate, analyze, develop and agree converged networking requirements relating to existing business capabilities, new capabilities, future capabilities and create the appropriate product design roadmap to meet those requirements

Work across Enterprise Architecture, Network Architecture, Service Delivery, Service Management, Network and OSS Engineering to define the specifications and perform impact assessments ensuring a collaborative approach and consensus agreement of the performance and customer experience parameters of the end-to-end solution to be delivered.

Participate in discussions with the business to influence upstream and downstream product/application design and offerings, standardization and related non-functional requirements.

Lead on service definition and product management across network and perimeter domains including tools for service activation, monitoring, diagnostics and change management; product migration and withdrawal; productization of service discovery baseline and transformation capabilities. Document, Publish and Maintain service descriptions for converged network and systems entities and their interfaces.

Engage with global and regional Network Service Delivery leads to provide ‘Service Delivery’ as a product with streamlined delivery and commercial change journeys.

To be a successful business-technologist at Maersk, you must be passionate about building, enabling and sustaining our business, as well as inspiring and developing our people. Further, in this role you will:

  • Be a world class expert in the Network Portfolio & Demand Management domain, acting as a SPOC and responsible towards TSE Product Management in crafting the portfolio architecture and product development strategy for connectivity, associated systems and tooling in Networks and Perimeter for the Maersk Group.
  • Ensure the successful incremental development of the current estate while modernizing and transforming to enable the future strategy
  • Converting ideas and requirements into business proposals with sustainable differentiation, clear returns on investment and value quantification
  • Create the Network, Perimeter and OSS portfolio roadmap of initiatives, involving all stakeholders and coordinate it’s engineering development and KPIs
  • Prioritize, synchronize and sequence the allocation of CAPEX and OPEX to ensure delivery within agreed budget - across all Network, Perimeter and OSS development, including performance of risk management.
  • Managing all streams under the development umbrella, including external parties and vendors. Driving and challenging Engineering teams on their assumptions of successful execution.

The Candidate -


To be considered for this opportunity candidates will have the following capabilities:

  • A demonstrable track record operating as a Network Portfolio Development or Product Manager within a globally focused business
  • World class expertise and experience in network portfolio development and demand management in a large Multi-national Corporation, Network Service Provider or Systems Integrator
  • This candidate must have 15+ years’ experience of developing product roadmaps and product LCM for connectivity and perimeter services including but not limited to Satellite, 4G/LTE, 5G, Ethernet, MPLS, Fixed and Wireless LAN, Cloud Connect, load balancers, Firewalls, VPN concentrators and SSE
  • Significant expertise in product strategy and architecture with a focus on developing a product framework for network services
  • Highly financially literate, able to develop investment cases and manage significant budgets while realising cost synergies
  • Strong supplier and vendor management driving collaboration and innovation
  • Understanding of network, perimeter and OSS technology trends as it relates to enterprise technology strategy and enabling business strategy
