A position of conservator/conservation technician for conservation work in relation to furniture and other wooden objects is offered within the Building & Artefacts Conservation unit. The position is time limited and is available from as soon as possible and until 30th April 2022.<br
Job description
You will be part of a team of conservators with your main responsibility within the conservation and documentation of wooden objects, furniture and interiors, as well as the installation and dismantling of furniture in historic buildings, including preventive conservation. The work will be part of Building & Artefacts Conservation's revenue-covered<em business. In addition, there may be assignments within the National Museum's own exhibitions involving work with installations, exhibition care and possibly in our storage facilities.
Qualifications
You must, as a minimum, hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized educational institution in conservation. Practical experience in the preservation of recent wood or a knowledge of traditional craft techniques is also required. Experience in the preservation of cultural-historical objects that are still in use along with the reinforcement of their construction will also be an advantage. Specific experience with church furniture is desirable, but not a requirement.
Experience in controlling pests, treating fungus-infested wood and stabilizing degraded wood, including preserving wood objects exposed outdoors is also an advantage.

Terms of salary and employment
Working hours are 37 hours per week. We operate a flexible hours system. Salary and employment conditions are determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for academics in the State or Technical National Association.
The place of work may vary over shorter or longer periods in relation to specific projects. Transport and accommodation costs are covered by the employer.
The National Museum must have the opportunity to confidentially assess the applicant’s criminal record prior to employment.
