You have a profound background in bioinformatics from the pharmaceutical industry, working with target identification, genetics, and multi-omics analysis.

Then our role as Principal Bioinformatician in the Explorative Biology & Bioinformatics department might be the perfect fit for you.

You will join a team of highly skilled scientists, to shape and implement target identification and multi-omics analysis strategies. Together with the teams, you will work on enabling key elements in the execution of our ambitious 2030 strategy, along with supporting multi-omics analyses in our key projects across R&D.

Your role


LEO Pharma is an international market leader within dermatology with focus on inflammatory skin diseases. We have a strong commitment to deep molecular disease understanding and implementing multi-omics analyses and target identification strategies within this framework.

As Principal Bioinformatician you will be responsible for impacting our target identification platform and implementing new multi-omics analysis strategies, besides internal supervision of PhD students and scientific sparring to your peers and non-bioinformatics scientists.

In this role, you will be a key contributor to the execution of our strategy by further strengthening our deep molecular disease understanding and novel target identification. We expect you to become the scientific anchor within your areas of expertise and responsibilities.

You will be responsible for:

  • Driving further development of our novel GWAS data driven target identification platform together with a team of skilled target biologists and external bioinformatics consultants
  • Scientific lead for building and implementing our multi-omics analysis strategy
  • Supervision of PhD students
  • Strategic support to bioinformatics aspect within proteomics analyses
  • Supporting multi-omics analyses both in clinical and research projects
  • Provide statistical support to the Research organization

You will be accountable for the bioinformatics aspects of our target identification platform and the planning and implementation of our multi-omics analysis strategy to further our molecular disease understanding.

Your competencies


To succeed in the role, we expect you to hold a PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of drug discovery experience from the biotech and/or pharma industry (or equivalent) within GWAS, target identification, multi-omics analyses, and/or proteomics.

Furthermore, we expect you to have a solid understanding of omics technologies and advanced analytics.

Experience in many of the below areas would be fantastic

  • Hands-on experience with GWAS data analysis
  • Experience with drug target identification
  • Solid understanding of and hands-on experience with multi-omics data analyses
  • Experience with drug discovery bioinformatics & biostatistics both from research & development/clinical projects
  • Omics-data mining experience
  • Track record of working in larger pre-competitive consortia
  • Hands-on experience working with large public/semi-public databases
  • Excellent in giving and receiving feedback and energized by working with others
  • Planning and prioritizing your tasks independently

About the Explorative Biology & Bioinformatics department


You will join a fun department of dedicated and highly skilled scientists and laboratory technicians, including a dedicated bioinformatics team. Our mission is to drive early discovery innovation, by deep molecular disease understanding and novel target identification. Apart from the early discovery innovation, the department is also involved in a wide variety of projects across R&D ranging from research projects, over clinical trials, to business development and scientific messaging.
