About the department

You get the opportunity to join an interdisciplinary, scientific, high performing team in Gentofte, Denmark, responsible for developing, documenting and transferring scalable purification processes and virus safety for APIs to bring new therapeutic proteins into clinical trials. Moreover, the department ensures high quality adventitious agent analysis with respect to virus and mycoplasma for product release of biopharmaceuticals. We emphasise a scientific approach in our work that is performed in multidisciplinary project groups in close collaboration with analytical and process development, production, and quality departments as well as international contract organisations.

The position

You will work in close collaboration with scientists and technicians in the team to develop an in house quantitative PCR method for Retrovirus-like particle (RVLP) quantification. In this role you will perform targeted literature searches to address the scientific challenges of the project, establish RVLP genome sequencing protocol, design primers targeted against RVLP genomes, help to develop/ensure project milestones, and keep the team updated of project progress, work with team members on ad-hoc laboratory projects, and assist with development of ongoing activities.

• Internship period: 6 months
• Working hours: Full time (37 hours a week)
• Start date: Preferably beginning of September 2019
• Internships are remunerated, if your educational track allows
• A Danish full time work permit is required

Qualifications

We are looking for an Intern with a strong scientific skillset within molecular biology and virology. You are currently studying for your Master’s degree in Biomedicine, Molecular sciences, Virology, Biochemical engineering or other relevant field. We prefer you have general knowledge and key laboratory techniques related to molecular biology. It is considered an advantage to have knowledge within molecular detection techniques e.g. qPCR and reverse transcriptase qPCR and Next Generation Sequencing.

As a person, you are outgoing with a strong personal drive and dedication. Your strong interpersonal skills assist you in creating trustful relations, and you bring a healthy sense of humour to your work even when the pressure is on. We expect that you thrive in a busy environment and that you are great at focusing on solutions and opportunities. You should be fluent in English, verbally as well as in writing.
