The Center for Genomic Medicine at Rigshospitalet is looking for a clinical bioinformatician or computational scientist with variant interpretation or relevant hospital experience to join our bioinformatics group that develops and maintains advanced computational pipelines for the analysis of patient genomes and transcriptomes.
The Center for Genomic Medicine holds a combined high-throughput DNA/RNA sequencing and bioinformatics platform that offers a wide-range of genomic and transcriptomic analyses, including human whole-genome sequencing, to hospitals in Region Hovedstaden and Region Sjælland. As part of the National Genome Center we further participate and contribute with pipeline development, sequencing and quality assessment for the National genome sequencing initiative.
As part of the bioinformatics group, your tasks will be in the interface between bioinformatics production and clinical interpretation. Accordingly, responsibilities will range from assisting the development and testing of clinical pipelines in order to best support clinical interpretation in close communication with the clinical reporting groups.
We offer a stimulating environment where medical doctors, biologists and bioinformaticians work together to deliver high-quality precision medicine and research. Moreover, there will be a unique opportunity to work with bioinformatics and computing tools on real clinical data. Our work has direct implications for diagnosis of patients leading to better treatment for a variety of rare and more common genetic diseases, infections, and cancer.
Qualifications:
Our work is primarily focused on processing and analyzing DNA sequencing data, and we use SnakeMake for orchestration of a large variety of bioinformatics tools on a supercomputing infrastructure. Previous experience with this work, or aspects thereof, is an advantage - just like scientific understanding of molecular biology.
The application should comprise the following, to be uploaded in the application system:
Deadline for application August 3rd, 2021. The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with relevant union. The place of work is Rigshospitalet, Blegdamsvej, Copenhagen.
