About the department
You will join a new department of senior scientists and technical staff dedicated to research within Cardiovascular & Liver Disease (CVD & LD) therapy areas. As part of our corporate strategy within research, this department has a focus towards target identification, validation and pre-clinical progression of new treatments within CVD & LD areas. We conceive, characterise and apply translational research integrating biomarker identification and patient stratification needs into each single experimental project.
Our commitment is to build a presence within cardiovascular and liver disease research and to build a pipeline of differentiated candidate drugs in heart failure, atherosclerosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.
The position
In this job, you mainly focus on conducting, developing and optimizing in vitro studies aiming at mechanistic understanding of targets and identification of molecular downstream readouts . You will be a primary contributor in developing and executing cell-based and biochemical assays across platforms (e.g. ELISA, qPCR, NGS, imaging, flow cytometry, WB) by applying in a small-scale genetic or pharmacological perturbants. Further, you are expected to have good experience in assay setup, cell line engineering through functional genomics tools such as RNAi, TALEN or CRISPR reagents as well as mammalian cell culture , gene expression analysis and translation of findings into readout-based biomarker assays.
Apart from that you will get an opportunity to participate in the projects related to the designing and execution on experiments. You are also responsible for ensuring a good scientific quality of the studies and general procedures. Furthermore, you perform appropriate milestone reporting and scientific communication. More importantly, you keep scientifically updated in the field and demonstrates high subject matter knowledge.
Qualifications
You hold a Master’s degree /equivalent experience within molecular biology/functional genomics or human/cell biology. Additionally, you have at least 2 years of experience within in vitro biochemical or cell-based assay development, familiarity with new genomics technologies and openness to their utilizationor equivalent knowledge through relevant practical experience. Ideally you are an expert in mammalian cell culture and cell line engineering, also has solid experience in gene expression analysis and protein-based biomarker assay setup and execution. In addition, you can lead, develop and optimize cell-based and biochemical assays across available state-of-the-art technology platforms .
You are a well-organized person who is proactive, flexible and possess a constructive attitude towards change. Your effective communication along with good networking skills helps you to successfully collaborate with your team and achieve the goals of the department. Further, you can comfortably collaborate with multiple global stakeholders. Moreover, you have tremendous amount of enthusiasm and ability to initiate enables you to motivate your colleagues and drive processes. Apart from that you have a good business mindset and can work independently.
