An exciting role where you as the Cargo Standards Policy Lead will be instrumental in devising a framework for Cargo Safety standards in the entire value chain for Maersk and related brands.
You will be responsible for driving local knowledge of Cargo Safety and container stuffing both commercially and operationally including issuing governance guidelines following international practices, legislation and Maersk minimum standards.
This includes standard procedures, safety minima, training requirements and certification.
Further, the role will act as escalation for frontline/Area HSSE queries. On top, the role will support customer onboarding from an operational perspective.

Reporting into the Head of Cargo Standards, the role is responsible to drive a strict Safety-first ambition through governance issued to the frontline teams, while driving Cargo Safety knowledge and expertise locally through guidelines and educational material as well available sources related to Cargo Safety.
Key tasks:
• Maintain a broad knowledge of Cargo Safety/Care and related legislation, practices & trends together with a good understanding of the current and future business needs.
• Understand and issue Cargo Safety internal procedures
• Produce and maintain statistics over cargo related incidents
• Advise & support Sales, Marketing, & Operations in developing, communicating & implementing Cargo Safety
• Summarise & evaluate the effectiveness of current Cargo Safety procedures and guidelines and recommend appropriate actions/educational follow up to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
• Define, develop & implement formal educational campaigns, initiatives, tools to ensure that employees, customers, external bodies, understand & comply with diverse types of Cargo Safety related requirements
• Support establishing Cargo Standards as a center of expertise with local reach.
The ideal candidate will have a relevant education combined with Specialist and practical experience handling specialized subjects i.e. from Cargo Surveying, Container inspections, project cargo, Classification Societies, Survey companies or Multi Purpose Project Shipping Companies.
Knowledge of different container equipment is advantageous.
You:
• Have the ability to perform strength and stability calculations
• Have knowledge of relevant software to assist in the daily work in case needed for high Density Cargo, Out of Gauge or Break Bulk shipments
• Have the ability to provide guidance on stuffing, lashing and securing ensuring shipments are always seaworthy
• Are able to calculate dunnage/timber requirement for weight distribution inside containers
• Have the ability to support a team from the distance while maintaining global standards
• Have the ability to challenges status quo and create solutions pragmatically that enable Safety and growth with a “can do”-attitude
• Thrive with partaking in complex discussions in a fact-based manner
• Understand commercial drivers and experience working with Trade, clusters and customers is preferred
• Volunteer assistance and support both within team as well as to Head of Cargo Standards
You are a resilient team player who is goal-orientated and demonstrates a high level of commitment with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
