Maersk Oil Trading (MOT) acts as the sourcing arm for Maersk in terms of supply, storage, purchase and delivery of fuel for vessels. Maersk is the key customer (80%), and, in 2022, MOT handled almost 11m MT of total fuel purchases. With fuel being amongst the main operating cost of Maersk's vessels operating expenses, MOT focuses on optimizing along various channels, including blending, tolling and barging. We are a mixture of talented and passionate professionals, traders, and industry experts.
Maersk Oil Trading consists of around 100 employees located in a handful of offices around the world - from New York and Singapore to Rotterdam, Geneva and Copenhagen. This role will be based in our Headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark.
We offer
You will be an integral part of our dynamic Front Office team, handling bunker fuel deliveries to the world’s largest container and shipping fleet and other 3rd parties in Europe and have an important operational role keeping the world’s largest container fleet running efficiently.
Key responsibilities
Your primary responsibility will involve managing the process of loading , unloading and storage of cargo or products incoming and outgoing to Europe from vessels such as ships or tankers. This includes ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted flow of operations, adherence to protocols, monitoring the transfer of oil, and maintaining accurate cargo records. Along with this, you will be coordinating with team members, counterparts, port authorities, and other stakeholders.
Furthermore, some of your key tasks will be:
- Be responsible for the movements of cargo from point of supply to delivery in an operationally optimal and efficient manner.
- Oversee the handling of products within terminals, tankages, storage facilities, refineries, vessels, and barges. This includes managing daily operational tasks, monitoring inventory, handling documentations, and controlling costs.
- Engage in frequent daily correspondence with both internal and external
- counterparties, stakeholders, and service providers
- Constant close communication across various functional departments such as Control, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Claims, Finance, Accounts, and Settlements.
- Engage or appoint independent surveyors, expeditors, ship-to-ship service providers, agents, terminal representatives, and any other necessary services.

Driven to improve with an analytical mindset, a 24/7 mentality and a willingness to handle critical issues outside of regular office hours.
Ideally you have experience in areas of Oil & Gas operations, bunker barge operations/shipping/the marine industry and servicing customers in a BTB environment
You will have an academic education in commerce/administration/shipping & logistics or equivalent industry experience.
You will be fluent in both written and spoken English and have good interpersonal skills.
Experience in a related role is required.
