Are you the engineer that will pave the way for continuous manufacturing of new tablet products in Novo Nordisk? Then join us in a newly established position as automation and control engineer in Oral Protein Formulation (OPF).

OPF is part of Novo Nordisk’s Research & Development (R&D) family. Our aspiration is to improve diabetic patients lives by develop the world’s first and finest tableted biologicals.

About the team

The position is anchored in the team Future Manufacturing and Digital Innovation, whose key mission is to redefine our development and manufacturing approach by creating a fully data driven and continuous process for oral tablet formulation, production and analysis from end to end. We aim to create a new paradigm that will alter the approach to drug development by redesigning and digitalizing the process.

The team consists of 17 highly skilled subject matter experts with different scientific backgrounds ranging from technicians, formulation specialists and analytical

experts to automation engineers and data scientists.

But they need you, an entrepreneurial minded automation and control engineer to establish the framework for our achievements.

The position

In this role, you will be identifying and designing innovative automation solutions, providing fully automated continuous manufacturing of new tablet products. Furthermore, you will also be implementing automation solutions and make sure that they fit the needs and live up to regulatory standards and guidelines.

In particular, you will be responsible for creating robust and efficient production solutions by developing and improving our process control systems. You will make sure that the right solutions are in place to capture valuable process data in collaboration with our formulation, analytical and data scientists, creating control systems that ensure a high product quality. Finally, the role will include hands-on implementation, documentation and knowledge-sharing in the department.

This is a new job type within Novo Nordisk R&D which gives great flexibility for experimentation with new technology, and you can look forward to playing a key role in shaping the future of automated laboratories and production lines in OPF.

Qualifications and skills

You have:

  • A relevant university degree, e.g. a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Automation Engineering, Control Systems, Electrical Engineering or similar
  • 0-3 years of work experience with system design, PCS/PLC programming, SCADA or other relevant process control systems (e.g. Siemens, Emerson, Allen-Bradley or similar)
  • Hands-on work experience with design and implementation of process control systems
  • Experience in establishing a setup from the ground
  • Proficiency in English is required. Danish or another Scandinavian language is a plus

You have a key interest in designing and working with future manufacturing systems as well as solid communication skills both written and verbally. You enjoy building novel solutions for your customers, like to drive decisions in your area of expertise, and take a pride in helping your colleagues in a pulsing and agile environment. If you also deliver solutions and enjoy working in an informal atmosphere where flexibility and responsibility goes hand in hand, then this is the job for you.
