JOIN OUR TUNNEL AND UNDERGROUND INFRASTRUCTURE DEPARTMENT IN LYNGBY
In Tunnel and Underground Infrastructure, you will become part of COWI's Tunnels unit. Tunnel and Underground Infrastructure numbers more than 100 skilled experts worldwide, and we are among the tunnelling departments with the largest capacity in the world. We are experienced in all types of tunnels in sectors ranging from highways, metros and cavernisation to energy and power, and we cover the entire lifecycle of a project from idea, concept and design to operation and maintenance.
DESIGN THE FUTURE WITH A GLOBAL TEAM OF EXPERTS
In this position, you will join our global team of experts and work closely with the Head of Section/ Vice President. You will be accountable for leading geotechnical designs on a wide variety of tunnelling, structural and civil engineering projects, offering technical advice to project teams, liaising with clients, mentoring/developing less experienced engineers and ensuring we achieve the project requirements.

In this position, you will join our global team of experts and work closely with the Head of Section/ Vice President. You will be accountable for leading geotechnical designs on a wide variety of tunnelling, structural and civil engineering projects, offering technical advice to project teams, liaising with clients, mentoring/developing less experienced engineers and ensuring we achieve the project requirements.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for:
- Geomechanical principles and their application, including some or all of the following -
- Soil mechanics and retaining wall design (diaphragm walls and Secant piles)
- Rock mechanics and rock mass behaviour
- Slope stability and slope remediation
- Project management
- Detailed design and analysis along with ensuring that design, assessments, and checking of designs are in accordance with the current Standards, Codes of Practice and Best Practice
- Preparation of risk assessments
- Coordination of work undertaken by external sub-contractors and design checkers

- Hold an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering
- Possess excellent reporting and communication skills in both personal and written form
- Have FEM design experience (Plaxis 2D or 3D)
- Have CAD/BIM experience from Autocad/Revit/Civil 3D
- Be willing to travel to meet clients or visit our other offices worldwide
