Thales people architect solutions that support 85 million mainline and suburban passenger journeys, worldwide, every day. Our Rail Signalling and Communication systems are used on metro lines across major cities, and 72,000 kms of route, 52,000 trains per day in 16 countries are controlled by our Traffic Management Systems. Together We deployed the first-ever nationwide ticketing system which processes over 50 million ticketing transactions in 100 cities daily.
Thales has been involved in Danish projects since 1973, and now due to the significance of the Group’s activities and the market outlooks in the country, Thales has since established a formal regional office in Copenhagen in January 2015. Thales has delivered the Danish Travelcard system and is in charge of its operation and maintenance for the next 10 years. Moreover, it is Thales’ hope to further enhance the system with the latest technologies, like mobile phone and account-based functionalities.

Development and implementation of a new signalling system for the railway network in Jutland
In 2012, Banedanmark awarded a consortium composed of Thales and Strukton Rail with a contract to upgrade the signalling system in Jutland to the new European ETCS level 2 system. This latter consists of approx. 1.200 km of the Danish railway network in Jutland. Since then, Thales in Denmark has been working on the design and building of the system in close cooperation with Strukton Rail and Thales peers in Germany.
Thales Denmark A/S is currently looking for a Signalling Engineer (Trafikal Sagsbehandler) to join our Main Line Signalling project; internally the project is called the ‘F-Bane project’. As Signalling Engineer you will be responsible for developing the signalling layouts and ensuring the approvals with the customer and validators within deadline. You will report to the Team Lead for Signalling and Hardware engineering and as a part of a team on 8 Engineers, you will in the role be responsible for the following:

- Developing signaling layout, route tables and speed profiles according to engineering rules
- Organize and conduct field surveys to collect engineering data
- Propose and manage headway requirements to fulfil line capacity
- Conduct peer review and organize review workshops
- Read and understand ATC/TIB and interlocking plans
- Engineer interlocking and ETCS system relevant data
- Liaise with project groups in Signalling Programme and Banedanmark basis organization

We imagine that you are an ambitious engineer with a relevant education, positive attitude and infectious enthusiasm about learning new technologies. If you also have some technical, project or administrative experience it is a plus. Further we expect that you are compliant with the following:
- Capability to gain the required technical understanding of signalling systems and the engineering process
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Danish or German are considered a plus
- Analytical and problem solving
- Attention to details
- Team working skills
- Professional use Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook
- Being familiar with AutoCAD, Knowledge of railway terms and infrastructure elements and Railway expertise for traffic operation are a plus
