About the department
The position is located in Novo Nordisk Research & Development area in Bagsværd in the department Chemistry Pilot Plant. We develop and manufacture synthetic peptides (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API)) and intermediates for pre-clinical and clinical studies.
You will join a team of 14 highly skilled and motivated chemists and technicians with a “can-do” attitude, who constantly challenge themselves to improve the work processes and facility.
The position
As pilot scientist, you will work in a newly constructed pilot facility, which is dedicated to purification and spray-drying of synthetic peptides (API) and side chains for pre-clinical and clinical studies. Your main activities will be to:
- Upscale purification and spray drying processes in close collaboration with our development colleague’s
- Drive the preparation and execution of API manufacturing campaigns
- Participate in large and complex investment projects, incl. design and qualification of equipment, utilities and facilities
- Document solutions in e.g. Change Requests, Non-Conformities or other appropriate format
- Drive and participate in systematic problem-solving related to process and equipment
- Guide and share knowledge with colleagues and process technicians regarding questions about purification and campaign activities
As the pilot plant facility is relatively new, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the continuous optimization of the purification and working processes and equipment in the pilot plant.
Qualifications
You hold a master or PhD in organic chemistry or chemical engineering. Ideally, you have relevant experience from working with purification of synthetic peptides in a laboratory, Pilot or a Production facility and you have the necessary technical insight within chromatography to drive improvements of our existing work processes, facilities and equipment.
On a personal level, you are a team player with a constructive attitude who takes pride in understanding and challenging science. You value knowledge sharing with other scientists as well as with our technicians and you have solid communication skills. Furthermore, you are a self-starter with a structured approach to work and you have an ability to keep calm and make the right decisions in a sometimes hectic work environment. Preferably, you master both English and Danish.
