Power Solutions Applications, Controls & Electrical Plant Monitoring & Reliability

As a Data Engineer you will join the department Plant Monitoring & Reliability, which is part of Vestas Power Solutions. The department is responsible for the products and services related to Vestas Monitoring and Reliability solutions and offerings. We have a strong and diverse team that consists of everything from Health Monitoring Engineers/Specialists and Reliability Engineers/ Specialists, Data engineers, Data Analysts and Data Scientists.

The department is responsible for developing world class Plant Monitoring Products & Solutions, Health Monitoring, Vibration monitoring and Reliability models. This ranges across real-time data collection from thousands of power plants with Health Monitoring systems, and data analytics on a Health Monitoring & Reliability setup supporting multiple data applications, Diagnostics, Monitoring solutions for our customers. The goal is to bring down the cost of energy by leveraging the vast amount of data that Vestas collects and stores from power plants around the globe.

Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer you will build and design the architecture for our new data management system for large scale data modelling.
You will be responsible for the architecture and implementation of the data modeling component used in an IoT system that allows a scalable and agile data insight.
You will be responsible for guidelines, best-practices, and support for building advanced data models using machine learning/AI methodologies.
You will be responsible for developing processes and guidelines for the data modelling life-cycle processes and governances.
Your primary responsibilities will cover:

  • Address the mathematical modeling methods used in the Plant Data area and suggest alternatives from the Machine Learning world.
  • Build robust software/Analytical solutions that can be used in a production environment delivering diagnostics, Machine fault detections to customers all over the world.
  • Participate in IoT infrastructure design
  • Work with large, complex data sets and develop robust and scalable code to analyze it
  • Perform technical design, requirements analyses, and documentation in collaboration with the business
  • Design and build robust, maintainable solutions on Cloud or on our professional quality computing system

Qualifications

  • Relevant Masters' or Ph.D. degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)
  • Work experience where data analytics was a major component of your work
  • Experience in IoT systems and management of IoT data life cycles
  • Experience automating software deployments and following a continuous delivery and deployment model (DevOps - Git processes))
  • Experience with mathematical modeling
  • Experience building software solutions (e.g. Linux environment)
  • High proficiency in machine learning methods
  • Solid understanding of data modeling using machine learning tools

Competencies

  • Ability to interface with diverse groups (scientific teams, developers, business users) and understand end-to-end requirements
  • Solid written and oral presentation/communication/visualization skills
  • Experience/education within Automated data analysis and automated data pipelines
  • Experienced in R, Python Programming
  • Experience with containers and cloud architectures, like Azure or Amazon cloud IoT services
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize tasks - and to complete assigned projects with minimal supervisions
  • Systematic problem-solving skills with a solid sense of ownership
  • Aptitude to learn new methods and technologies separately and continuously
