Senior Data Engineer – Data Lake and new DevOps setup
If you excel within coding and have the necessary overview to take on a leading position as mentor for developer colleagues and advisor to the team lead, we have a highly exciting job for you. You will get a key role in taking a skilled development team to the next level as DevOps team. This, because you and your team mates are trusted with the responsibility to create and operate Topdanmark’s upcoming data platform and data strategy. The project is fully supported by top management as a strategic must win battle and you will have great freedom to make the right choices.
Set the direction, build and run our new state-of-the-art data setup
As Senior Data Engineer you set the technological direction and take on a leading role in the business-critical decisions on how to set up and use our technologies (Snowflake, AWS, SQL, Python, JavaScript, ElasticSearch...). Related to this, you prioritise tasks to match the overall strategy and road map. Key words are standards and automation. You will unfold your skills across:
5+ years of experience within hands-on coding and motivation for coaching and mentoring
We are looking for a profile with ambitions of making an impact in form of top-class solutions that are well thought from the very beginning. If you are this person, you also know how to balance technical opportunities and costs, and you can do it across development as well as the following operation.
You know how to get people around you exited and you are not afraid to challenge – in a professional way with respect for conflicting input. This also covers your abilities as coach and mentor. Key words are supportive and collaborative. Additionally, your CV comprises:
Your new team
You will join a distributed developer team of skilled coders. Five of us are based in Kuala Lumpur and one in the Topdanmark headquarters in Ballerup Copenhagen, where you will be based together with the team’s lead. The spirit is high and we are all very excited with this opportunity to become pioneers as one of the first teams in Denmark to build a new state-of-the-art data setup from scratch.

- Creation of our new and best in class data setup
- Development of pipelines – from data sources to data lake
- Ensuring one standard across related solutions – goodbye cowboy coding
- Ongoing development and/or optimisation of standards for development and release processes
- Coaching and mentoring of developer colleagues
- Ensure daily operations run as expected and troubleshoot when necessary
5+ years of experience within hands-on coding and motivation for coaching and mentoring

- Experience from working with relational databases – we are using Snowflake
- Full stack / DevOps mindset

- Good English skills – Danish is not necessary as long as you are motivated for learning
