Are you looking to apply your data engineering skills in a new context? Do you want a life changing career where your improvements have large impact and help patients fight chronic diseases? Do you want to be part of a new and growing team?

Then the position as a Data Engineer in our Manufacturing Intelligence team will be something for you.

About the department

As a part of our commitment to fight chronic diseases, we are looking to increase the efficiency and yield of our manufacturing of drug delivery devices. In our new and growing team, we help each manufacturing line pursue these ambitious targets by enabling data-informed decision making and implementing machine learning models to automate tedious tasks and enable hitherto unseen optimisations.

We are a diverse team with colleagues having different backgrounds – Process Experts, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Project Managers. We work together with manufacturing sites to understand processes, data, and challenges before solving and implementing data-informed improvements.

Manufacturing is a relatively new domain for applied data science, and it offers some unique and difficult challenges. However, even a small improvement of a few percent to a manufacturing line can result massive savings and, more importantly, millions of additional devices to help patients worldwide combat Diabetes and other chronic diseases. Everyone in our team is super excited about applying their knowledge to the domain of manufacturing.

Together with more than 100 manufacturing lines, we aim to build scalable platforms for extracting, transforming, and storing data along with tools for utilising and visualising the data. For instance, we are aiming to build a platform for streaming data from sensors, PLCs, and other sources, to visualise line performance and problems in near real-time. To this end we are developing our stack with AWS, IoT technology, and open source tools.

The position

As a Data Engineer in our Manufacturing Intelligence team, you will be responsible for collaborating with subject matter experts and IT to design and build the ETL pipelines for manufacturing lines. You will also be responsible for expanding our tool stack and ensuring that we are employing best practises in our data pipelines. You will have broad possibilities to develop your competencies and educate others. If you are interested in DevOps then, together with our data scientists, you could be responsible for developing the pipeline for deploying machine learning models to production at the edge, i.e. the manufacturing lines, and in the cloud.

While in the role, you can expect to grow your knowledge of manufacturing and process engineering. You will get to work with some pretty cool machinery, and you will engage with people from across the organisation. As we are relatively new team, you will have a large say in the choice of which tools we will use and will have a large fingerprint on the platforms we develop.

Qualifications

You have a background, educational and/or professional, in Computer Science/Engineering, Data Science/Engineering, or similar and have experience, academic or industry, with some, but not necessarily all, of the following:

  • Apache Spark, Kafka, AWS Kinesis, IoT Streaming or similar stack.
  • Cloud platforms e.g. AWS, Azure, or similar
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language i.e. Java, python
  • Experience with Microservice architecture
  • Exposure to DevOps, Docker, and continuous deployment is a plus

We expect our candidates to be good at what they do, have a burning desire to learn new things, and willing to take up the challenge of building something from scratch. You listen and thrive in a culturally diverse environment.

As we are a global company and an international team, fluency in both spoken and written English is required. Danish proficiency is a plus but is not required.
