Equipment and data professional interested in purification processes

Do you possess the skills and experience to help us create value from the data we can extract from our processes? Do you want to work in a truly global organization, where your skills and dedication is valued, and where you can find extensive development opportunities? Do you want to share your day with dedicated colleagues, knowing that they have your back when things are busy? Then look no further and join Novo Nordisk in Kalundborg, where you will find exciting professional challenges, a great work environment and a healthy work-life balance.

About the department

In our Purification Plant (PP) in Kalundborg, we are responsible for purifying the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) that make up the core of many of Novo Nordisk’s products. In PP Quality Control (QC), where you will be working, we analyse every part of the complex processes extensively, making sure that all of us are always working within the narrow margins that make our products safe and effective.

Much of our work is related to chromatographical processes. We employ a great variety of complex equipment and instruments, allowing us to perform extremely thorough and in-depth quality analysis – and we have lots of data for you to work with. In the department as a whole, we are five teams and a handful of colleagues in supporting functions. Your immediate 12-14 colleagues will be mostly laboratory technicians and chemists - and together, we look forward to making you feel at home. We look out for each other, and you will never be left to deal with the hard challenges on your own.

The job

As our new equipment & data professional, you will mainly be collecting, analysing and reporting data from our day-to-day work. You will take the lead on identifying trends and providing us with answers as to why certain machines are more resilient than others, why some types of repairs are often delayed, where the bottlenecks are, and what we can learn from these findings. Based on your findings, and employing LEAN tools, you will develop solutions to the identified issues that are feasible, possible to implement in a busy environment and create value – for the organisation as a whole, and in particular for your colleagues and their work flow. Part of the job is therefore to inform, challenge or advice colleagues that may have a completely different background than your own. Sometimes, you will be asked to report your findings to management, and we expect you to possess the qualifications to do so convincingly and with ease. We will never be done with optimizing our processes and equipment, and you will play a critical part in identifying, solving and preventing a range of issues that may impact our overall performance.

Understanding the processes we work with, is therefore essential to the position. The better you can relate to chromatography, precipitation and impurity studies, the easier it will be for you to succeed quickly. You must be able to understand the lab processes as a whole, when helping us optimise processes and work flows, and your methods and results should reflect this. Optimally, your findings directly lead to actions that make a difference. Many stakeholders are looking forward to bringing you on board, and we look forward to introducing you to them. The position is limited to 24 months.

Qualifications

You may come from a number of different backgrounds, but most importantly, you have experience with or interest in collecting and analysing data in a complex and regulated production setup. You probably hold a degree similar to a MSc. in Chemisty; maybe you are an engineer or a data analyst experienced within chemical production. If you have Quality Control experience or have just worked in a regulated and complex production setup, it will allow you to create noticeable results more quickly. Again, it is essential that you have a certain level of knowledge of chemistry and the processes we employ. If you are a recent graduate, you must be prepared for a somewhat steep learning curve, but for the right person, we are open to this.

You are great at structuring your time and efforts, and even when you are busy, you never compromise on quality – it is simply not in your nature. Your curiosity allows you to delve into new subjects with ease and joy, and you enjoy taking part in maintaining a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

You must possess the people skills that make it natural for you to build trustful relation across cultural, professional and geographical gaps, and you enjoy sharing your knowledge and learn from others. Sometimes, you will have to challenge existing views or processes, and convince colleagues and management with your findings or ideas. Similarly, to obtain the data you need, you will often have to engage colleagues and teams on your own initiative, and this should come natural to you, if this position is for you.

Fluency in Danish and English is a must for this position.
